We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Business Development and Sales 

Location: Lagos

Role Summary

  • The head of business development has oversight to lead, develop, and implement strategic sales and business development initiatives that drive long-term commercial growth in alignment with our vision to be the trusted business information provider committed to the advancement of financial markets and our communities in sub–Saharan Africa while promoting sustainability. 
  • The role provides direction and guidance to the sales team in the design and effective implementation of forward-thinking initiatives that create relevant visibility, strategic partnerships and high-level networking.

Scope of the Job

  • Develop and implement strategies to Increase sales and profits for Agusto & Co.
  • Effectively lead the Business Development Team
  • Leverage on high level partnerships and networks in order ensure growth objectives are met.
  • Collaborate well with other departments in achieving overall company goals.

Key Tasks:

  • Strategic Leadership & Revenue Growth
  • Drive achievement of annual revenue and growth targets approved by executive management
  • Provide strategic leadership for the commercialisation of Agusto & Co.’s annual macroeconomic and industry reports ensuring optimal market positioning, client acquisition, and revenue realisation.
  • Lead the team through high level B2B environments and sales engagements
  • Designing and implementing effective and structured B2B sales models, pipeline/ client management systems, and leads conversion strategies
  • Lead the creation of tailored client pitches and proposals to attract and win new business opportunities
  • Lead pricing and product scope negotiations with prospective and existing clients
  • Implement pricing strategies that balance both competitiveness and profitability.
  • Identify business opportunities by recognizing prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analysing sales options.
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision, and mentorship to a high-performing business development team
  • Strong ability in creating and implementing physical and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to identify and act on new market trends, optimising revenue growth and brand positioning.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Ability to encourage the development and refining of innovative ideas that will enhance sales and improve brand positioning 
  • Develop and execute initiatives that enhance the market visibility of Agusto & Co.’s services
  • Continuously lead the team in refining visibility strategies based on market realities and research.
  • Lead and improve performance management within the business development team
  • Champion the integration of social media/ digital visibility initiatives into broader brand development and revenue generation strategies

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant course from a reputable University. 
  • Relevant Master’s degree or professional certifications is required.
  • 12–15 years of progressive experience in sales, minimum of 5 years in a senior commercial leadership role with full revenue accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability and proven track records to drive sales and increase revenue through strategic planning and execution.
  • Strong networking skills in negotiating and closing business deals that promote sustained revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of the macro landscape in Nigeria, including regulatory frameworks and financial market trends.
  • Excellent communication, business writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage long sales cycles involving all stakeholders, including C-suite, regulators, and institutional process owners and decision-makers
  • Clear understanding and verifiable experience of institutional B2B selling
  • Capacity to effectively align and leverage Agusto & Co`s social medial presence to positive business outcomes.
