Your work will shape how prospective students, parents, donors, and the public experience the university’s brand and mission.
This is not just an editing role; it is a chance to define the institution’s narrative voice for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
Video Production & Content Creation:
Conceptualise, shoot, and edit engaging video content for:
Student recruitment (promotional films, “day in the life” videos, testimonials)
Create motion graphics, lower thirds, titles, and basic animations to enhance productions.
Record and edit audio (voiceovers, interviews, ambient sound).
Pre production & Planning:
Collaborate with the Marketing and Academic Affairs teams to develop video scripts and storyboards.
Plan shoots: location scouting, lighting setup, camera operation, talent direction (students, staff, faculty).
Maintain a content calendar aligned with admission cycles, academic events, and fundraising campaigns.
Post production & Asset Management:
Edit raw footage into polished, brand consistent videos (colour grading, sound mixing, transitions, effects).
Optimise videos for different platforms (aspect ratios: 16:9, 9:16, 1:1; compression for web; subtitles for accessibility).
Organise and maintain a digital video asset library (raw footage, final exports, project files) with clear metadata.
Ensure all content complies with copyright laws (music, stock footage, fonts) and university branding guidelines.
Live & Event Support:
Operate cameras or vision mixers during live events (e.g., convocation, public lectures) for recording or live streaming.
Set up and troubleshoot basic audio-visual equipment for on campus events.
Equipment & Budget:
Manage video equipment inventory (cameras, lenses, tripods, lights, microphones, gimbals) and recommend new purchases.
Liaise with external video production vendors when additional capacity is needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s Degree or HND qualification in Film Production, Multimedia, Mass Communication, Digital Media, or a closely related field.
2–5 years of professional video editing and content creation experience in a corporate, agency, media house, or institutional setting (experience in education, non-profit, or storytelling-driven organisations is a strong plus).
A strong portfolio / demo reel demonstrating:
Narrative storytelling (promotional, documentary, or testimonial style).
Proven proficiency in industry-standard software: Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Media Encoder. (DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro acceptable if matched with strong portfolio.)
Experience with camera operation (DSLR, mirrorless, or broadcast cameras) and lighting / sound capture.
Understanding of video formats, codecs, export settings for web, TV, and social media.
Salary & Benefits
A monthly salary of N200,000 - N300,000 monthly depending on experience.
Access to university facilities (library, sports, etc.).
Professional development opportunities (software training, conferences, equipment allowances).
