Job Summary
Mshel Homes is seeking a curious, analytically minded, and driven Research Assistant to support the Innovation and Strategy Department in generating actionable intelligence, identifying emerging opportunities, and contributing to strategic decision-making processes. T
his role sits at the intersection of research, analysis, and innovation — and is ideal for an individual who is passionate about ideas, comfortable working with data, and eager to translate insights into practical business recommendations.
The Research Assistant will work closely with senior strategists and leadership to support the development of innovation initiatives, market intelligence frameworks, and forward-looking strategic plans.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Industry Research: Conduct comprehensive research on industry trends, competitor activity, market dynamics, and emerging technologies relevant to the organisation’s strategic priorities. Synthesise findings into clear, concise reports and briefing documents.
Innovation Support: Assist in the identification, evaluation, and documentation of innovative ideas, business models, and best practices from within and outside the sector. Support the development of innovation frameworks and pipeline tracking.
Strategic Analysis: Contribute to the preparation of strategic analyses, SWOT assessments, scenario planning, and feasibility studies to inform leadership decision-making.
Data Collection & Management: Design and manage data collection processes including surveys, interviews, desktop research, and database queries. Maintain organised and accessible research repositories.
Report Writing & Presentation: Prepare well-structured research reports, executive summaries, slide decks, and data visualisations that communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Benchmarking & Competitor Intelligence: Track and benchmark competitor strategies, products, and performance against organisational goals. Provide regular intelligence updates to the Strategy team.
Project Support: Provide research and administrative support to ongoing strategy and innovation projects, including tracking deliverables, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and maintaining project documentation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Assist in preparing materials for internal workshops, strategy sessions, and stakeholder engagements. Support the facilitation of ideation and planning meetings as required.
Monitoring Trends & Signals: Continuously monitor news, publications, think tanks, academic journals, and industry sources to identify signals of change that may impact the organisation’s strategic direction.
Ad Hoc Research Requests: Respond promptly and accurately to ad hoc research requests from senior members of the Innovation and Strategy team, demonstrating flexibility and intellectual agility.
Qualifications and Skills
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, Strategic Management, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification (MBA or Master’s in a relevant discipline) will be an added advantage.
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a research, strategy, consulting, or analytical role. Experience within a corporate strategy, innovation, or management consulting environment is highly desirable.
Research Proficiency: Strong grounding in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Ability to design research frameworks and extract meaningful insights from complex data sets.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to connect disparate pieces of information into coherent strategic narratives.
Written Communication: Outstanding written communication skills with demonstrated ability to produce professional-grade reports, summaries, and presentations.
Technology & Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) and research databases is an advantage.
Intellectual Curiosity: A genuine interest in ideas, innovation, and the forces shaping business and society. Ability to think creatively and challenge conventional assumptions.
Attention to Detail: High standards of accuracy in research output, data handling, and document preparation.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple research assignments simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
Collaborative Spirit: A team player who works well across functions and with senior stakeholders, while also capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
