Role Overview
The Sales Manager will lead, develop, and manage the performance of SAYS Energy’s sales team to ensure the achievement of ambitious revenue targets across B2B, B2C, and B2G segments.
This role requires a dynamic and commercially driven leader with proven experience in designing and executing sales strategies within the energy sector, particularly natural gas, LNG, and power solutions markets. The Sales Manager will ensure that all sales activities align with SAYS Energy’s growth ambitions, market positioning, regulatory requirements, and long-term business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution:
Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for B2B, B2C, and B2G channels in line with SAYS Energy’s business objectives.
Identify and penetrate new markets, including industrial gas users, retail/commercial clients, and government/public sector opportunities.
Align sales plans with market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and global energy transition trends.
Lead pricing strategy, contract negotiations, and deal structuring for high-value agreements.
Drive revenue growth through structured prospecting, pipeline development, and strategic account management.
Team Leadership & Management:
Directly supervise, coach, and motivate the sales team, including Sales Executives and Account Managers, to exceed performance targets.
Establish a performance-driven sales culture with measurable KPIs and regular performance reviews.
Foster talent development, succession planning, and capability building within the team.
Ensure strong collaboration across Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing departments.
Provide leadership, guidance, and accountability to support consistent sales execution.
Market Development & Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, industrial users, regulators, government stakeholders, and strategic partners.
Represent SAYS Energy at industry forums, trade shows, client meetings, and high-level government engagements.
Monitor competitor activities and provide market intelligence insights to management.
Drive long-term customer contracts, strategic partnerships, and new business alliances.
Strengthen SAYS Energy’s positioning as a trusted energy and gas solutions provider.
Governance, Risk & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, anti-bribery policies, trade compliance standards, and safety requirements in all sales transactions.
Implement and enforce robust risk management practices in all deals, negotiations, and customer engagements.
Align sales activities with SAYS Energy’s ESG principles and sustainability agenda.
Ensure proper documentation, approvals, and compliance checks for contracts and commercial agreements.
Reporting & Performance Management:
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales performance reports to senior leadership.
Use CRM tools, analytics, and data-driven insights to track progress, identify performance gaps, and refine sales strategies.
Monitor the financial outcomes of sales activities to ensure profitability, cost optimization, and sustainable growth.
Provide regular updates on pipeline value, conversion rates, customer acquisition, and market opportunities.

Key Deliverables: 12–24 Months
Achieve a minimum of 20% annual revenue growth across customer segments.
Expand the customer base in B2B, B2C, and B2G segments by at least 30%.
Secure at least two multi-year government or industrial supply contracts.
Implement a world-class sales governance framework.
Establish SAYS Energy as a leading and trusted gas partner in Nigeria and West Africa.
Build a high-performing sales team with clear KPIs, accountability, and consistent reporting.
Skills & Competencies:
Strategic Sales Leadership: Proven ability to design and execute complex sales strategies in the energy and gas sector.
People Management: Experience leading and motivating high-performing sales teams.
Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of pricing models, contract negotiations, deal structuring, and profit optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement: Strong track record of managing C-suite, government, regulatory, and strategic partner relationships.
Global Benchmarking: Familiarity with best practices from major energy players such as Shell, BP, Aramco, TotalEnergies, Chevron, and leading LNG companies.
Analytical & Tech Savvy: Strong ability to use CRM tools, sales analytics, and performance dashboards.
Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, competitive, and highly regulated environment.
Communication & Presentation: Strong ability to communicate value propositions clearly to technical and executive stakeholders.
Compensation
Competitive base salary; N12,000,000 - N15,000,000 annually.
