Job Title: Head, Power Plant

Reports To: Plant Director

Job Summary             

• Oversee the activities of the Power Plant including operations, maintenance, health and safety.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations of the power plant ensuring the power plant is operated and maintained in accordance with operation manuals and company standards. To ensure power Generation and supply to cement Plant as per production requirement.
• Overall responsibility for handling the Gas supply and Management, handling Gas contracts with NGML
• Overall responsibility of handling long term service contracts with OEMs of Gas Turbine generators.
• Overall responsibility for the environmental management and compliance with laid down company policy.
• Oversee the procurement of Power Plant spare parts ensuring that all spares, equipment and furnishing are completed in accordance with the Power Plant operations and in accordance to the budget.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of management plans for improvement of the Plant performance.
• Oversee the planning of all plant maintenance activities.
• Ensure the occupational health and safety of all the individuals working in the Power Plant.
• Overall responsible for training and development of staff members
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Plant Director from time to time.
• Financial Accountability - Responsible for controlling costs of Power Plant as per the Budget provision, Verification & certification of Gas bills

Key Requirements
Academic / Professional Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering with Power option, or its equivalent in a relevant discipline.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of Twenty (20) years demonstrated operating experience in Gas Turbine based  Power Plants, With 5 years of experience as Head – Power plant.

Skills & Competencies:

• Evidence of the operation of Gas Turbine based power generation plants with high level of output, availability and efficiency.
• Commercial acumen and experience regarding how to monitor & control the O&M costs of Power Plant including the ability to manage contracts effectively and to compile and manage budgets and operating costs.
• Leadership ability and strong management skills.
• Good data gathering and analysis skills.
• Baseline problem analysis and solving skills.
• Creativity and an ability to think out of the box.
