Dragnet Solutions Limited - Our client, Lafarge Africa Plc, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Geologist

Location: Ewekoro, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

• To determine the optimum manner in which to work the Raw Material resources in the Quarries, and in doing so meet the specific quality targets as required by the plant.

Responsibilities

• Supervise safety in the quarry, perform monthly quarry safety audit.
• Supervise and conduct safe blasting operation: Supervise blasting operation without accident and Incident.
• Participate in the quarry annual volume and financial budget.
• Plan and supervise annual / monthly scaled detail development phasing of the quarry base on the Mining plan.
• Use and update the mining model by updating field UTM system.
• Prepare simple working drawings and sketches in AutoCAD format for quarry daily operations (Limestone and Overburden advance survey).
• Organise monthly raw material audit, validating sampling up to the Kiln feed, review the plant KFUI with the Plant Chemist.
• Supervise quarry operations including the dewatering pumps.
• Any duties as assigned by the Quarry Manager.

Requirements
Education:

•  HND or B.Sc Degree in Geology.

Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in a process industry or quarry operations.

Required Skills:

• Ability to use simple mining tools and software. Handheld GPS AutoCAD and MineCard.
• Good knowledge of limestone chemistry and quality control methods.
• Good knowledge of mining plan.
• Good knowledge of mines regulation and specific environmental constraints.
• Good knowledge of project management methods.
• Fair knowledge of survey Establishing quarry control points.
