Chief Operating Officer (Agribusiness) at a Pan-African Trade Infrastructure and Venture Studio Company - Qualis Business Support Services

Qualis Business Support Services - Our client is a pan-African trade infrastructure and venture studio company, whose mission is to develop processing plants, export hubs, logistics corridors, and regional trading infrastructure in the Agribusiness sector.

They are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer (Agribusiness)

Location: Central Business District, Abuja (FCT)

Responsibilities

• Corridor Activation - GTC Nigeria Gambia Agric Export Activation
• Commission cold storage infrastructure at Banjul port. Target minimum 500 MT capacity.
• Secure Lagos offtake agreements, minimum one binding offtake contract with a Lagos wholesale fish importer before first shipment.
• Execute first containerised export shipment. From Banjul to Lagos and vice versa. This is the milestone that validates the entire model.
• Oversee contractor selection, commissioning timeline, and operational readiness
• Team Building & Performance Management
• Financial Management & Capital Stewardship Ownership
• Regulatory & Compliance Management
• Maintain clean regulatory standing in both jurisdictions. Nigeria and The Gambia. NCS, NAFDAC, SON, Gambia Revenue Authority, phytosanitary certification — the COO ensures zero compliance gaps.
• Support the Compliance & Licensing Officer in managing CBN FX regulations, EFCC reporting, and Gambia Central Bank requirements for the corridor financial services activation

Requirements

• Degree in Agric Economics, M.Sc in Agric Business with 10 years of experience in pan-African trade
• Previous experience handling of Agric export across West Africa is a MUST,
• Knowledge of customs requirements for export, agribusiness operations, or structured trade finance — with at least 2 years in a direct P&L ownership role.
• Proven corridor or multi-country operations experience in Agric Export

Remuneration
N1,500,000 / Month.
