Job Title: Technical Assistant (Hospitality)
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Main Function
The Technical Assistant will provide critical technical, administrative, and operational support to the Hospitality Director or General Manager. The role requires a versatile professional who understands hotel facility management, guest service standards, vendor management, and hospitality logistics.
The ideal candidate will assist in monitoring property maintenance, tracking health and safety (HSE) compliance, coordinating with vendors, and preparing operational and financial reports.
This position is highly collaborative: ensuring the leadership team is effectively supported to deliver flawless guest experiences, maintain property assets, and maximize operational profitability.
Role Responsibilities
Facility & Maintenance Monitoring Support:
Assist in overseeing the daily maintenance of hotel assets, including HVAC systems, power generation, plumbing, IT infrastructure, and kitchen equipment.
Conduct daily walk-throughs of the property (rooms, public areas, back-of-house) to log technical issues and track the progress of repair works.
Liaise with the maintenance/engineering team to ensure quick turnaround times on guest room defects to maximize room availability.
Vendor Management & Procurement Control:
Track and follow up on service level agreements (SLAs) with external contractors (e.g., elevators, pest control, laundry equipment, security).
Organize and maintain a secure, up-to-date repository of all equipment manuals, warranties, service histories, and operating licenses.
Draft requests for quotes (RFQs), analyze vendor bids, and prepare technical comparisons for hospitality procurement needs.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Track and ensure timely renewals of all hospitality-related licenses, health and safety permits, fire safety certifications, and environmental permits.
Assist in conducting regular quality assurance and hygiene audits across food & beverage (F&B) and housekeeping departments.
Maintain comprehensive records of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure all departments are aligned with corporate compliance standards.
Administrative & Executive Coordination:
Manage the Technical/Operations Director’s calendar, schedule facility inspections, and coordinate meetings with internal heads of departments (HODs) and external partners.
Prepare agendas, take detailed minutes of operations meetings, and rigorously track action items to ensure execution.
Serve as a reliable liaison between senior management, front-of-house staff, and external hospitality consultants.
Operational Analytics & Reporting:
Collate daily and weekly operational metrics (occupancy rates, energy consumption data, guest feedback scores) to compile progress reports for management.
Assist in tracking departmental expenditures against the approved budget and flag unexpected operational cost overruns.
Review maintenance and operational utility bills to track cost-efficiency and identify energy-saving opportunities.
Experience / Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Facility Management, Business Administration, Estate Management, or a related technical discipline.
3–5 years’ proven experience in a technical support, operations, or facility role within a 3 to 5-star hotel, resort, or premium real estate development.
Professional certification in hospitality, project management (e.g., PMP), or facility management (e.g., IFMA) is a distinct advantage.
Good understanding of hotel operating systems (Property Management Systems like Opera, Fidelio, or similar) and standard office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
