We are seeking a highly motivated, analytically minded, and hands-on Graduate Trainee to join our agribusiness team in Elele, Rivers State.
This structured program is designed to develop the next generation of agribusiness leaders by exposing the trainee to the full spectrum of our commercial farm operations—including field management, resource planning, agricultural economics, supply chain logistics, and labor coordination.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong foundational knowledge of agricultural principles combined with sharp business acumen. As this is a practical, field-based accelerator program, the candidate must be completely willing to relocate and work daily at the farm site in Elele.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Rotational Learning & Operational Support:
Undergo a rigorous rotational training schedule across various farm departments, including crop/livestock production units, warehouse/inventory management, accounting, and logistics.
Assist senior farm managers and agronomists in supervising daily field activities, data collection, and operational reporting.
Learn and master company-specific farm management software, record-keeping tools, and operational workflows.
Agricultural Economics & Data Analysis:
Track, analyze, and report on key farm metrics, such as crop yields, production inputs, feed conversion ratios, and labor productivity.
Assist in preparing farm budget forecasts, market price surveys, and cost-benefit analyses for ongoing and future agricultural projects.
Monitor operational expenses and identify opportunities to optimize resource utilization and minimize farm-level waste.
Supervisory & Labor Coordination Training:
Work closely with the farm management team to understand seasonal workforce planning and shift scheduling.
Assist in coordinating and monitoring permanent and casual labor teams to ensure daily operational targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Quality Control & Compliance:
Assist in enforcing farm health, safety, and biosecurity policies across all sections of the farm.
Ensure data integrity by keeping highly accurate records of inputs used, harvests gathered, and dispatches made.
Minimum Requirement: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Extension & Rural Development, or a strictly related agricultural business field.
Minimum of a Second Class Upper (2:1) or Upper Credit is preferred, though a strong Second Class Lower (2:2) with exceptional practical potential will be considered.
Completed or exempted from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Experience & Domain Knowledge:
Experience Range: Entry-level (0 to 2 years of experience). Fresh graduates with zero formal work experience but rich academic project or internship backgrounds are highly encouraged to apply.
Knowledge Base: Must demonstrate a solid understanding of agricultural operations, farm budgeting, market dynamics, and agricultural value chains.
Key Competencies & Soft Skills:
Analytical Mindset: A strong comfort level with numbers, data collection, and basic financial analysis.
Problem-Solving Skills: Resourceful and proactive; able to think on your feet in a fast-paced, fluid outdoor work environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English communication. The candidate must be able to draft crisp field reports and interact smoothly with both corporate teams and farm laborers.
Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for calculations, data logging, and basic graphing.
Mobility & Physical Adaptation:
Relocation Requirement: Absolute, enthusiastic willingness to relocate to and live long-term at the farm location in Elele, Rivers State.
Physical Resilience: High adaptability to a rustic, commercial farm environment. The candidate must be comfortable working outdoors, spending significant periods on the field, and navigating rural infrastructure.
