Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Supply Chain Planning Manager role based in Plateau state.
The Supply Chain Planning Manager will oversee end-to-end planning activities, including demand forecasting, production planning, material requirements planning, and distribution scheduling for dairy products.
The role will coordinate closely with procurement, production, quality, warehousing, and sales teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure timely product availability. T
he manager will monitor supply chain performance metrics, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions to improve service levels, reduce waste, and optimize costs.
Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing sales and production data, updating planning tools, managing supplier and logistics timelines, mitigating risks such as stock-outs or capacity constraints, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
The role also involves driving process improvements, contributing to S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) cycles, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
S&OP Leadership: Facilitate the monthly S&OP cycle, bringing together Sales, Finance, and Operations to reach a consensus on a single operating plan.
Demand Forecasting: Collaborative with the Sales & Marketing teams to develop accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual demand forecasts based on historical data and market trends.
Supply Planning: Oversee the Production Planning Officer to ensure factory schedules are optimized to meet demand without exceeding capacity or shelf-life limits.
Inventory Strategy: Define and manage safety stock levels for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to prevent stock-outs during peak seasons.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP): Coordinate with Procurement to ensure the timely arrival of long-lead items (e.g., imported cultures, stabilizers, or specialized packaging).
Performance Management: Track and report on key metrics such as Forecast Accuracy, Plan Attainment, and Days of Inventory On-Hand (DIO).
Process Digitalization: Drive the optimization of ERP planning modules to automate manual scheduling and improve data visibility across the chain.
Risk Mitigation: Identify potential supply chain disruptions (e.g., grain shortages or logistics bottlenecks) and develop robust contingency plans.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field; a relevant professional certification (e.g., APICS/CPIM, CSCP) is an advantage.
5 – 7 years of experience in supply chain planning, demand/supply planning, or S&OP, preferably within the FMCG or Dairy sector.
Demonstrated experience in supply chain planning, including demand forecasting, production planning, and inventory management.
Strong skills in data analysis, use of spreadsheets and planning tools, and interpretation of supply chain metrics (e.g., service levels, inventory turns, forecast accuracy).
Knowledge of procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution processes, preferably within FMCG or food and beverage manufacturing.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as production, quality, finance, and sales, and to manage stakeholder expectations.
Solid understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and process optimization in manufacturing or supply chain environments.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present data-driven insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
