Job Title: Online Yoruba Language Teacher

About the Role

• Our client is seeking a passionate and engaging Yoruba Language Teacher to teach children in the diaspora between the ages of 4 and 15.
• The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about preserving Yoruba language and culture and has experience working with children in an online learning environment.
• The teacher will deliver fun, interactive, and age-appropriate virtual lessons that help students develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Yoruba while deepening their appreciation of Yoruba culture and traditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging online Yoruba lessons for children ages 4–15.
• Adapt teaching methods to different age groups and proficiency levels.
• Create interactive learning activities, games, songs, stories, and cultural lessons.
• Track student progress and provide periodic feedback to parents.
• Encourage active participation and maintain a positive virtual classroom environment.
• Develop lesson plans and learning materials aligned with program objectives.
• Foster cultural connection and pride in Yoruba heritage among students.
• Attend periodic teacher meetings and training sessions.

What Success Looks Like

• Students remain engaged and excited about learning Yoruba.
• Lessons are interactive, structured, and age-appropriate.
• Parents receive regular updates on student progress.
• Students demonstrate measurable improvement in Yoruba language skills and cultural understanding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Languages, Linguistics, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience, preferably with children.
• Must be based in Lagos, Nigeria.
• Native or near-native fluency in Yoruba and English.
• Experience teaching online is an advantage.
• Strong communication and classroom management skills.
• Comfortable using Zoom, Google Meet, or similar virtual teaching platforms.
• Reliable internet connection, laptop/computer, webcam, and quiet teaching environment.
• Passion for Yoruba language, culture, and heritage education.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching children living outside Nigeria.
• Background in early childhood education.
• Experience creating educational content or curriculum.
• Familiarity with differentiated instruction for various age groups.
