Crop Production Specialist at Xina Agro Enterprises Limited

Xina Agro enterprises Limited is an integrated agribusiness operating a flagship 30 hectare model farm in Adeje, Okpe LGA, Delta State, Nigeria. They focus on high-tech greenhouse vegetables, aquaculture, agroforestry, livestock, and community outgrower programs.

Job Title: Crop Production Specialist

Job Summary

• The Crop Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day crop production activities on the farm, ensuring efficient farm operations, optimal crop yield, and compliance with good agricultural practices.
• The role involves supervising farm workers, implementing crop production plans, monitoring plant health, and ensuring proper use of inputs such as fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all crop production activities including land preparation, planting, weeding, fertilization, irrigation, and harvesting.
• Implement farm production plans in line with seasonal crop schedules and management directives.
• Supervise farm workers and ensure tasks are carried out effectively and safely.
• Monitor crop health and identify pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies; report and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Ensure proper and efficient use of fertilizers, chemicals, seeds, and other farm inputs.
• Maintain accurate records of farm activities, input usage, crop progress, and yields.
• Ensure compliance with good agricultural practices (GAP) and safety standards.
• Assist in implementing irrigation schedules and water management systems.
• Liaise with agronomists, farm managers, and external consultants where necessary.
• Monitor field conditions and provide regular reports to management.
• Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and proper maintenance of farm equipment and tools.
• Train and supervise junior farm workers and casual laborers.
• Support post-harvest handling, storage, and quality control processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of OND/HND/BSc in Crop Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, or related field.
• At least 5 years relevant experience in crop production or farm supervision.
• Strong knowledge of crop husbandry, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems.
• Practical experience in managing farm workers and field operations.
• Ability to work in a rural farm environment and under varying weather conditions.

Salary
N200,000 - N400,000 monthly.
