They are seeking a highly qualified professional to coordinate the effective implementation of technical standards and conformity assessment frameworks across the renewable energy sector.
This role has been specifically designed to support the organisation's strategic objectives in strengthening standards-driven practices and enhancing compliance levels across the industry.
The successful candidate will serve as the central coordination point for all matters relating to technical standards and conformity assessment, providing expert technical advisory services and supporting members in understanding and applying approved standards.
This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening the renewable energy sector's credibility, enhancing product quality, and positioning the organisation as a technical reference body for government agencies, development partners, and investors.
What you will do?
Serve as the central coordination point for all technical standards and conformity assessment matters, operating the organisation's compliance desk
Provide expert technical advisory services on applicable national, regional, and international renewable energy standards
Develop simplified toolkits, compliance templates, and Standard Operating Procedures to facilitate members' understanding and application of approved standards
Support the Technical Standards Committee in all technical and operational functions
Issue periodic technical bulletins and advisories summarising approved standards and emerging regulatory requirements
Design, establish, and maintain a comprehensive compliance tracking database for members
Compile and analyse post-market and post-installation surveillance data
Prepare and present quarterly compliance dashboards and detailed reports to management and committees
Identify compliance gaps and recommend evidence-based corrective actions and support interventions
Organise quarterly technical roundtable discussions with members and relevant stakeholders
Act as the official technical liaison with key regulatory bodies on conformity assessment matters
Coordinate and facilitate pre-certification clinics for members
Participate in national and regional standards development committees and technical working groups
Support the management of the Standards Learning Hub and central online repository of standards-related resources
Support the design and rollout of training programs and mandatory certification initiatives
Document, curate, and disseminate case studies and success stories from compliant member organisations
Prepare high-quality technical memoranda, reports, and presentations for leadership
Engage in resource mobilisation efforts and development of funding proposals related to standards and conformity assessment
Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to track and report on key performance indicators
What we are looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Renewable Energy, Energy Engineering, Mechanical, or related fields)
Master's degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Policy, Standards & Quality Management, or related technical discipline is an added advantage
Professional certifications in Quality Assurance, Standards Development, Conformity Assessment, ISO Systems, or related technical fields are highly desirable
3 - 5 years of experience in technical standards, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or renewable energy project implementation
Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies (solar PV, SHS, mini-grid, hybrid systems, etc.)
Working knowledge of national and international standards (SON, IEC, ISO, NEMSA, REA standards, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in developing Standard Operating Procedures, technical toolkits, and compliance frameworks
Experience in post-market/installation surveillance and quality assurance monitoring
Ability to analyse technical data and prepare compliance dashboards, reports, and advisories
Familiarity with Conformity Assessment procedures and regulatory compliance pathways
Strong documentation skills for generating advisories, bulletins, memos, presentations, and compliance guidance notes
Experience working with standards development bodies, regulatory agencies, or industry associations is a strong advantage
Prior involvement in stakeholder engagement, technical working groups, or committee participation is preferable
Proficiency in using data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Google Data Studio, or similar)
Ability to create and manage compliance databases and tracking systems
Competence in digital content management for Learning Hubs, online repositories, and technical document libraries
Strong technical writing and communication skills to translate complex standards into simplified guidance
Ability to facilitate technical roundtables, workshops, and trainings
Excellent stakeholder engagement and representation skills with regulators, development partners, and member companies
Proven ability to work collaboratively with committees and cross-functional teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise, and meet deadlines
Self-driven with capacity to work independently and proactively
Experience with resource mobilisation, proposal development, or donor-funded projects is an added advantage
Familiarity with Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks is an added advantage
Membership of relevant professional bodies is an added advantage
