Our client is recruiting a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for ensuring the efficient execution of the company's business objectives, operational excellence, profitability, customer satisfaction, and sustainable growth.
The COO will oversee the day-to-day operations of the business, drive performance across all operational units, optimize resources, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement strategies that enhance service delivery and organizational effectiveness.
The role requires a commercially minded leader with strong experience in transportation, mobility services, fleet management, logistics, or related industries.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the company's vision, goals, and growth objectives.
Translate business strategy into actionable operational plans and measurable outcomes.
Drive business growth, operational efficiency, and profitability across all business units.
Support the Managing Director in developing and implementing strategic initiatives and expansion plans.
Identify market opportunities and recommend initiatives to improve competitiveness and market share.
Operations Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organizationto ensure seamless service delivery.
Establish operational standards, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.
Monitor operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure optimal fleet utilization, route efficiency, and resource allocation.
Drive operational excellence across transportation, logistics, customer service, and support functions.
Ensure timely resolution of operational challenges and customer-related issues.
Fleet and Asset Management:
Oversee fleet acquisition, maintenance, utilization, and replacement strategies.
Ensure vehicles are properly maintained, compliant, and operationally efficient.
Implement measures to reduce downtime and maximize asset productivity.
Financial and Business Performance:
Drive revenue growth and profitability through effective operational management.
Develop and manage operational budgets and cost-control initiatives.
Monitor key financial and operational performance indicators.
Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising service quality.
Collaborate with Finance to ensure effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Customer Experience and Service Excellence:
Champion a customer-centric culture throughout the organization.
Develop initiatives to improve customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.
Monitor service quality standards and ensure prompt resolution of customer complaints.
Implement systems that enhance the overall customer experience.
People Leadership and Talent Management:
Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to departmental heads and operational teams.
Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Establish performance targets and monitor achievement across operational functions.
Support talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with company policies and performance management standards.
Compliance, Risk, and Governance:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, safety, and operational requirements.
Develop and implement risk management frameworks for operational activities.
Promote a strong culture of safety, compliance, and ethical business practices.
Liaise with regulatory agencies, industry stakeholders, and strategic partners where required.
Technology and Process Improvement:
Drive the adoption of technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and visibility.
Oversee the implementation and optimization of transportation, fleet, and operational management systems.
Leverage data and analytics to support decision-making and operational improvements.
Promote innovation and automation across operational processes.
Key Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Transport Management, Logistics, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
Technical Knowledge Area:
Minimum of 10 years' progressive leadership experience in transportation, mobility, logistics, fleet management, leasing, or related industries.
At least 5 years in a senior management or executive leadership role.
Demonstrated experience managing large-scale operations and driving business growth.
Strong understanding of fleet operations, transportation management, customer service, and operational excellence.
