We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Backend Developer

Location: Ilupeju, Lagos 
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: CTO

Job Overview

• Backend Developer is to design, develop, and maintain scalable server-side applications.
• The ideal candidate should have strong experience in Laravel and working knowledge of Node.js for building efficient APIs and backend services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and APIs.
• Build and manage databases, data models, and server-side architecture.
• Develop secure and scalable solutions that support business growth.
• Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and external APIs as required.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and responsiveness.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues.
• Implement security and data protection measures in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless system integration.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for applications and systems.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor system performance and recommend enhancements where necessary,
• Ensure applications are properly tested before deployment to production environments.

Position Specification
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

• At least 3- 5 years’ work experience as a backend developer.

Technical Knowledge Area:

• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel framework
• Experience building RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of database design (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Familiarity with authentication systems (JWT, sessions)
• Experience with version control (Git)
• Working knowledge of Node.js
• Experience with frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS is an advantage
• Understanding of API integration and third-party services
• Basic knowledge of server management (Linux, Nginx)
• Familiarity with Docker is a plus
