With a strong focus on innovation, productivity, and modern farming practices, the company is expanding its operations and is seeking an experienced Farm Operation Supervisor to oversee daily farm activities and ensure maximum operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating farm operations, supervising field personnel, implementing best agricultural practices, and driving productivity while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and resource management.
The Opportunity
As the Farm Operation Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day management of farm operations, ensuring that production targets are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively. You will coordinate field activities, supervise farm workers, monitor crop and livestock performance (where applicable), and ensure compliance with established agricultural standards and operational procedures.
This role requires a proactive leader with excellent organizational skills, practical farming knowledge, and the ability to manage people, resources, and timelines effectively.
Key Responsibilties
Farm Operations Management:
Supervise and coordinate all daily farm operations.
Plan and implement seasonal farming activities in line with production schedules.
Monitor planting, irrigation, fertilization, harvesting, and post-harvest activities.
Ensure efficient utilization of labour, machinery, and farm resources.
Maintain accurate operational records and daily activity reports.
Team Leadership & Workforce Supervision:
Supervise, train, and motivate farm workers.
Allocate daily tasks and monitor staff productivity.
Enforce workplace discipline and adherence to company policies.
Promote teamwork and a safe working environment.
Identify training needs and support continuous staff development.
Crop & Production Management:
Monitor crop health and identify potential pest, disease, or nutrient issues.
Ensure proper application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other farm inputs.
Track production performance against established targets.
Recommend improvements to increase yield and operational efficiency.
Equipment & Resource Management:
Ensure farm equipment and machinery are properly maintained.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
Monitor inventory of seeds, fertilizers, chemicals, and other farm supplies.
Prevent wastage and ensure responsible use of company resources.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across farm operations.
Ensure compliance with company policies and agricultural regulations.
Conduct regular inspections to maintain operational standards.
Report incidents, operational challenges, and recommend corrective actions.
Candidate Profile
What We Are Looking For:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, Higher National Diploma (HND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Crop Science, Animal Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
Experience:
3–5 years of practical farm management or farm supervisory experience.
Experience supervising field workers and coordinating farm operations.
Previous experience in commercial farming will be an added advantage.
Technical Competencies:
Strong knowledge of crop production and modern agricultural practices.
Ability to operate and supervise the use of farm equipment and machinery.
Good understanding of irrigation systems, pest control, and farm maintenance.
Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
