Job Summary
Our Client is seeking a Premium Pipe Running Supervisor (CNC Machinist) to join their team and provide technical leadership in premium threading operations.
This role is within a specialized manufacturing environment focused on premium pipe finishing processes including threading, buck-on, inspections, and coating.
The supervisor will develop and implement procedures, provide training, and ensure adherence to best threading practices while managing process continuity and technical documentation.
The position requires strong skills in CNC programming, process validation, and quality engineering, with responsibilities including root cause analysis, equipment maintenance oversight, and risk assessment.
Candidates can expect to lead a skilled team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to operational excellence in a safety-conscious workplace.
Responsibilities
Monitor and ensure continuous operation of the threading plant process to maintain production efficiency.
Report production issues promptly to Finishing Line Management and conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems.
Manage, catalogue, update, and disseminate all technical documentation including specifications, procedures, operational processes, and drawings.
Select and deploy technically reliable personnel to deliver high-quality service within the shop.
Oversee adherence to project timelines and procedures to ensure timely and compliant execution.
Ensure availability and maintenance of equipment, generate spare parts lists, and coordinate maintenance plans.
Develop and implement master plans addressing mid- to long-term critical operational challenges and propose risk assessment plans for finishing operations.
Comply with company policies, procedures, management standards, and applicable laws and regulations within the area of responsibility.
Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures by reporting incidents, conducting inspections, and participating in investigations.
Provide technical support and training on finishing processes including threading, buck-on, inspections, marking, coating, bundling, and phosphatizing.
Develop and implement special CNC threading programs and best threading practices to optimize quality and cost-efficiency.
Lead the development of quality plans, procedures, and work instructions, and validate first articles for premium threading operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, quality, logistics, vendors, customers, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless workflow.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a premium threading plant facility
Proven ability to write special CNC threading programs using FANUC and SIEMENS programming languages
Strong proficiency in utilizing, calibrating, and validating high-precision measuring instruments such as MRPs, dial gauges, and digital gauges
Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD for handling threading machine issues (PIN and BOX), coupling buck-on processes, and familiarity with ERP and SAP systems
In-depth understanding of material chemistry and mechanical properties relevant to threading operations
Expertise in process validation for premium threading operations, including developing quality plans, writing procedures and work instructions, and defining and validating first articles for premium threads
Qualification as a Quality Engineer under API Q1 specification
Extensive process engineering experience with advanced knowledge of threading plant processes such as swaging, stress relieving, buck-on, and chemical phosphatizing
Demonstrated leadership and motivation skills with the ability to manage personnel matters on the shop floor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in developing new special CNC programs under various programming languages
Proven ability to train and develop team members effectively
Strong skills in supervising, prioritizing tasks, and performing under pressure
Capability to write and develop procedures, manuals, and work instructions
Ability to propose innovative techniques that enhance quality while reducing costs
Experience in managing technical documentation, risk assessment plans, and maintenance follow-up
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance and incident investigation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with operations management, shop crews, vendors, customers, and regulatory authorities
