The Economics Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that helps students understand both microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts.
The ideal candidate will foster critical thinking, financial literacy, and a deep understanding of how economic systems, markets, and policies function in the real world, preparing students for both academic examinations and external assessments.
Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons on foundational and advanced economic theories, including supply and demand, market structures, fiscal policy, monetary policy, and global trade.
Align daily lesson plans with institutional curriculum guidelines and relevant external examination board standards.
Design, administer, and grade tests, exams, and projects to evaluate student progress. Provide constructive, timely feedback to support student growth.
Analyze student performance data to identify learning gaps and implement targeted interventions or remedial support where necessary.
Connect abstract economic theories to current national and global financial events to make the subject relevant and accessible.
Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages open academic discussion and respectful debate.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Education (with a specialization in Economics/Social Sciences), or a highly related quantitative field.
Professional Certification: A teaching license, professional certification, or registration with the appropriate national or state teaching regulatory body is highly preferred.
Experience: 2 to 5 years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level. Experience preparing students for standardized external examinations is a strong plus.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and basic statistical data analysis tools.
Pedagogical Skills: Proven ability to break down complex quantitative data, graphs, and abstract theories into easy-to-understand concepts for students.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead engaging classroom discussions.
Technical Literacy: Proficiency with educational technology, including Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital grading portals, and presentation tools.
Critical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to help students evaluate economic arguments, policies, and data trends.
Other Requirements:
Background Clearance: Must successfully pass standard background checks, including criminal record checks and credential verification.
Extracurricular Engagement: Willingness to mentor student organizations, such as an Economics Club, Debate Society, or Financial Literacy Club.
Professional Conduct: Strong commitment to professional ethics, punctuality, and the collaborative values of the educational institution.

Salary: N150,000 / Month typically commensurate with educational qualifications and years of active teaching experience.
