Job Title: Head Solar Technician

Job Summary
The Head of Technicians is responsible for leading and supervising the technical team responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of solar power systems.
The role ensures all projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and industry regulations while driving technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and coordinate all field technicians and technical supervisors.
Plan, assign, and monitor daily installation, maintenance, and inspection activities.
Ensure all solar PV installations comply with engineering standards, electrical codes, and safety regulations.
Review technical drawings, system designs, and project specifications before implementation.
Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure installations meet company and client expectations.
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues encountered during installation or maintenance.
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of assigned jobs.
Develop work schedules and allocate technicians based on project priorities and workload.
Ensure proper commissioning, testing, and documentation of completed solar systems.
Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all project sites.
Train, mentor, coach, and evaluate technicians to improve technical competence and productivity.
Conduct regular toolbox meetings and technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
Monitor technician attendance, discipline, productivity, and overall performance.
Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for existing client installations.
Ensure proper handling, usage, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
Collaborate with the Procurement team to forecast material and equipment requirements.
Work closely with the Sales, Design, and Operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Prepare weekly and monthly technical performance reports, including project status, technician productivity, quality metrics, and customer feedback.
Investigate technical failures, customer complaints, and recurring system issues, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Stay updated on emerging solar technologies, industry standards, and best practices.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certifications in Solar PV installation or renewable energy are an added advantage.
Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in solar installation and maintenance, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, and electrical distribution systems.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
Experience with system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of lithium battery technologies and hybrid/off-grid systems.
Understanding of electrical safety standards and regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical reporting.
Experience using project management or maintenance tracking software is an advantage.

Salary
N400,000 - N500,000 / month.
