Job Title: Senior QA Engineer

Location: Nigeria (Hybrid)

About the Role

• The Quality Engineering team is the standard-bearer for how the Paystack platform is tested end to end. We build the infrastructure, tooling, and automated coverage that let engineering teams ship quickly without compromising reliability, across API, Dashboard, mobile, and POS channels.
• As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be a hands-on senior individual contributor building and maintaining automated test suites for critical, customer-impacting flows.
• You will work across services such as payments processing, transfers, refunds, and merchant banking, designing robust contract, integration, end-to-end, and performance tests that run in our deployment pipelines and gate releases.
• Your voice will be heard and your work will have direct, measurable impact on the reliability of payments across Africa.

We’ll trust you to

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites (contract, integration, end-to-end, and performance) for critical payment flows, integrated into CI/CD and gating deployments
• Improve the testability of new and existing services through test modes, test data, stubs for third-party dependencies, and better observability
• Own quality for one or more product areas, partnering closely with the engineering teams that build them
• Contribute to the shared frameworks, tooling, and test data infrastructure used across the team
• Review test code and technical designs, and help raise the quality bar across engineering
• Collaborate with teams inside and outside engineering to understand merchant and customer pain points and translate them into test coverage

You’ll thrive in this role if you

• Strong experience in at least one major programming language (TypeScript/JavaScript preferred)
• Proven experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks API, and ideally web and mobile
• Solid experience performing functional and non-functional automated tests against complex web applications and APIs
• Strong SQL and data validation skills
• A good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests gate deployments
• Sound judgement about what to test, at what level, and where coverage adds the most value
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Experience testing payments, fintech, or other high-reliability, high-scale systems
• Experience with performance and load testing and with observability tooling
• Exposure to mobile UI test automation
• Experience using AI to automate workflows, complete tasks more efficiently, and spot opportunities where AI can add value to how we work
