Job Summary
To lead and oversee EHS planning, performance, and risk governance, ensuring seamless integration into business strategy, operations, compliance, and investment decisions to drive safe, sustainable, and value-focused outcomes
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) & Initiatives
Strategic EHS Planning, Performance Management and Reporting:
Lead the development and translation of corporate EHS strategy into annual plans, work programmes, and medium- to long-term roadmaps, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives
Drive the integration of EHS considerations into enterprise planning cycles, including CAPEX/OPEX budgeting, production optimization, and asset lifecycle management.
Establish and maintain a robust EHS performance management framework, incorporating leading and lagging indicators (e.g., LTIR, TRIR, FAR, process safety events, spills, audit findings, training compliance).
Design and oversee enterprise EHS dashboards, reporting systems, and digital tools to enable real-time performance tracking and visibility across management levels.
Lead advanced data analytics (trend analysis, root cause analysis, predictive risk assessment) to support proactive decision-making and risk mitigation.
Ensure timely, accurate, and structured EHS reporting to senior management and the Board, supporting strategic decision-making and performance oversight.
Benchmark EHS performance against IOGP standards and industry peers to identify gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Integrated Management Systems (IMS) & Corporate Governance:
Provide leadership for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Integrated Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 39001).
Ensure full alignment of IMS processes with corporate governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and international best practices.
Lead planning and execution of internal and external audits, certification processes, and surveillance programmes.
Coordinate and deliver Management Reviews (ISO Clause 9.3), including preparation of executive dashboards and Board-level reports.
Ensure data integrity, documentation accuracy, and audit readiness across all EHS systems and processes.
Track and drive closure of audit findings, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
Promote system maturity and consistency of implementation across all assets and functions.
Risk Management, Process Safety & Continuous Assurance:
Develop, implement, and maintain the corporate EHS Risk Management Framework, including risk registers, HAZID/HAZOP processes, and mitigation planning.
Provide oversight on asset-level risk profiling, ensuring identification, evaluation, and prioritization of operational and project risks.
Support and strengthen process safety management programmes, including major accident hazard identification, ALARP demonstrations, and barrier management.
Monitor the effectiveness of safety critical elements (SCEs) and preventive/mitigative controls across operations.
Lead the implementation and tracking of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) arising from incidents, audits, and reviews.
Drive integration of lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives across all assets to prevent recurrence of incidents.
Ensure effective risk mitigation execution, reducing exposure to high consequence events and improving overall safety performance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred).
Required Professional Certifications / Accreditations / Registrations
NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor certification.
Minimum Years of Experience and Relevant Areas:
Minimum of 14-16 years’ experience in EHS within the oil and gas industry, with strong exposure to upstream (E&P) operations.
Proven experience in:
EHS planning and performance management frameworks
Risk assessment methodologies and process safety management systems
Implementation and management of Integrated Management Systems (ISO standards)
Application of process safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, API, ISO)
Regulatory compliance management and stakeholder engagement
EHS data analytics, reporting, and performance monitoring systems
Advanced qualification in EHS management (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), ISO14001/45001 Lead Auditor, etc) is highly desirable
