Our company is a major player in the sausage segment of the food industry and is gradually gaining market share in the soft drinks and energy drinks’ segment of the beverage industry in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Learning & Development Officer

Location: Rite Foods Limited - Head Office / Manufacturing Plant(s)
Job Type: Full-time
Department: Human Resources & Administration
Function: Learning & Development / Talent Development
Reports To: Learning & Development Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Training Needs Analysis (TNA) - Conduct periodic organisation-wide and departmental TNA using competency gap analysis and stakeholder interviews to identify skill and knowledge gaps across all Rite Foods locations.
  • Training Plan Design - Translate TNA findings into a structured annual training calendar and curriculum, aligning learning interventions with business objectives and competency frameworks.
  • Training Budgeting - Develop and manage the L&D budget, cost trainings (internal and external), track spend against approved budget, and provide cost-benefit justification for proposed interventions.
  • Training Planning & Scheduling - Plan logistics for all learning interventions - venue, materials, facilitators, participant nomination, vendor engagement - ensuring minimal disruption to plant/business operations.
  • Implementation - Coordinate the end-to-end roll-out of training programmes (induction, technical, behavioural, leadership and compliance training) across factory and office locations, including vendor-facilitated and in-house sessions.
  • Facilitation - Personally facilitate selected in-house training modules (onboarding/induction, soft skills, policy orientation, supervisory/behavioural workshops) to a high standard of delivery.
  • Reporting - Prepare periodic (monthly, quarterly, board-level) L&D reports covering training hours, coverage, cost per employee trained, ROI indicators and compliance with statutory training obligations (e.g. ITF).
  • Evaluation - Evaluate training effectiveness using Kirkpatrick's model or similar (reaction, learning, behaviour, results); track post-training application on the job and recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BSc/HND) in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business Administration, Education or a related discipline.
  • A Master's degree in HR, Organisational Development or a related field is an added advantage.
  • Professional membership/certification such as CIPM, or an equivalent recognised HR/L&D body is required or actively being pursued.
  • A Training/Facilitation certification (e.g. Master Trainers Certificate, Certified Training Professional, TTT - Train-the-Trainer) is an added advantage.
  • 3-5 years' hands-on experience in a Learning & Development or HR Generalist role, ideally within a manufacturing, FMCG or fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience conducting TNA, designing training curricula, managing a training budget and facilitating classroom-based or workshop-style sessions.
  • Prior experience working with large, multi-site workforces (1,000+ employees) is an advantage.
  • Ability to design and administer TNA tools, interpret performance and competency data, and prioritise learning gaps against business impact.
  • Skilled in structuring learning objectives, content and delivery methods (ADDIE model or similar) for varied audiences - shop floor, supervisory and management cadre.
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, cost tracking, vendor cost negotiation and variance reporting.
  • Confident, engaging facilitation style; strong platform skills for both technical and behavioural training sessions.
  • Familiarity with evaluation models (e.g. Kirkpatrick), and ability to build simple dashboards/reports (Excel/PowerPoint) to track training KPIs and ROI.
  • Comfortable using HR/Learning Management Systems and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) to plan, track and report on training activities.
  • Able to source, evaluate and manage external training vendors/consultants and coordinate with departmental heads on nominations and scheduling
