Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach (LESGO) is an impartial, neutral and independent Non-Governmental Organization whose mission exclusively established to promote life in underserved communities through empowering communities to know and protect lives including their environment towards ensuring safe habitation through participatory methodology. Established in Grassroots Lifesaving Outreach was established in 2010 but was incorporated in the year 2011 with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). LESGO exists to partner with government and relevant agencies to promote and strengthen humanitarian law and a universal principle that seeks to honor the dignity of mankind with support and believe that Life is worth living and living well.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Community Mobilization Assistant
Locations: Yola South, Yola North, Fufore, Girie, Demsa, Numan, and Lamurde - Adamawa
Employment Type: Contract
Project: Cash Transfer Project
Contract Duration: Six (6) Months
Reports To: Cash Transfer/Community Mobilization Coordinator
Position Summary
The Community Mobilization Assistant will support the Cash Transfer/Community Mobilization Coordinator in planning, coordinating, and implementing community mobilization and cash transfer activities throughout the project duration.
The position holder will serve as the primary field focal person within the assigned LGA, ensuring effective community engagement, beneficiary sensitization, registration, cash distribution support, complaint management, and post-distribution monitoring while maintaining compliance with donor and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Community Mobilization Assistant shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Community Engagement and Stakeholder Coordination:
Mobilize communities and key stakeholders
conduct sensitization sessions on MPCA
Maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and partners
Promote community participation and ownership throughout the project.
Beneficiary Identification and Data Management:
Ensure transparent beneficiary selection, registration, verification, and household data collection processes while ensuring data accuracy, quality, confidentiality, and validation of beneficiary lists.
Accountability, Safeguarding, and Protection:
Promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP),
Manage feedback and complaints mechanisms
Uphold safeguarding standards (PSEA, Child Protection, and GBV risk mitigation) and ensure inclusion of vulnerable groups.
Field Monitoring, Reporting, and Documentation:
Oversee post-distribution monitoring, document lessons learned and success stories
Report incidents and safeguarding concerns,
Submit timely weekly and monthly reports.
Project Implementation and Compliance Support:
Support cash transfer activities and beneficiary communication,
Participate in project planning and review meetings,
Represent LESGO professionally and ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles.
Other Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with LESGO policies, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Cash Transfer/Community Mobilization Coordinator or Project Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, Development Studies, Sociology, Education, or a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in humanitarian or development programming, preferably involving community mobilization, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), livelihoods, food security, or emergency response.
Previous experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations is highly desirable.
Experience in beneficiary registration, community engagement, and field data collection is an added advantage.
Residents of the respective duty LGAs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Good report writing and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and mobile data collection platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, or CommCare) is an added advantage.
Ability to work under pressure and travel extensively within the assigned LGA.
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Hausa and other local languages spoken in the assigned LGA is highly desirable.
