The Bakhita Initiative (TBI-JDPC) Sokoto is a Catholic faith-based non-governmental organization committed to promoting human dignity, social justice, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. The organization implements humanitarian and development interventions across Northwest Nigeria, focusing on vulnerable and crisis-affected populations.
The Community Mobilizer will support the implementation of Multipurpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) and WASH interventions at the community level.
The role involves mobilizing beneficiaries, facilitating community engagement, supporting beneficiary targeting and verification processes, promoting hygiene practices, and ensuring accountability to affected populations.
The Mobilizer will serve as a key link between the project team and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement and Mobilization:
Conduct community entry, mapping, and stakeholder engagement to support project implementation.
Mobilize and sensitize community members on MPCA and WASH activities, targeting vulnerable groups.
Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and awareness sessions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, committees, and beneficiaries.
Beneficiary Identification and Support:
Support beneficiary identification, registration, and verification processes in line with project criteria.
Assist in the collection and validation of beneficiary data, including household information and bank details where applicable.
Support distribution processes, including cash assistance and WASH NFIs where required.
Facilitate referrals for vulnerable individuals to appropriate services.
WASH and Hygiene Promotion:
Deliver key hygiene promotion messages to households and communities.
Support community-led sanitation and hygiene activities.
Promote safe water handling, sanitation practices, and disease prevention behaviors.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Accountability:
Collect and report accurate field data using approved digital tools (e.g., ODK, KoboCollect, CommCare).
Ensure timely data synchronization and adherence to data protection policies.
Monitor field activities and promptly report challenges, feedback, and complaints.
Support feedback and complaints response mechanisms (FCRM) and ensure community voices are documented and escalated.
Protection Mainstreaming and Compliance:
Ensure protection principles (do no harm, inclusion, dignity, and safety) are integrated into all activities.
Identify and report protection concerns, referring cases according to established pathways.
Adhere to organizational policies on safeguarding, safety, and security at all times.
Other Duties:
Participate in trainings, team meetings, and coordination activities.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor in line with project objectives.
Additional Information:
Supervision: Works closely with community structures and volunteers.
Travel: Frequent travel within project communities in Daura LGA.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification:
Candidates should possess anNCE, ND, HND, BSc or Equivalent Certification.
Experience:
At least 1–2 years’ experience in community mobilization, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
Experience in MPCA, WASH, or related sectoral programming is an added advantage.
Familiarity with community-based approaches and participatory engagement methods.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in Hausa and basic English literacy.
Ability to engage respectfully with diverse community members, including vulnerable groups.
Proficiency in the use of Android devices and digital data collection tools (e.g., ODK, KoboCollect).
Good understanding of community dynamics in Daura LGA or similar contexts.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging field conditions.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Commitment to humanitarian principles and accountability standards.

Must be a resident of Cummunity Of implementation (Kofar Baru, Rimi, Suduje, Cediyar Tafarke)Daura LGA or surrounding communities.
Willingness to travel frequently within project locations.
