Job Overview
The Head of Academics in Hampos Academy is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the academic programmes.
The role ensures the delivery of a high-quality curriculum, promotes excellence in teaching and learning, monitors pupil achievement, and supports the professional growth of teaching staff.
The Head of Academics works collaboratively with school leadership to foster an engaging, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment that aligns with the school's vision and educational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the academic programme.
Ensure effective delivery of the curriculum in line with national and international educational standards where applicable.
Develop and implement strategies to improve teaching quality and pupil learning outcomes.
Monitor curriculum coverage and ensure consistency across all primary classes.
Teaching and Learning:
Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback and coaching to teachers.
Ensure lesson plans, schemes of work, and instructional materials meet school expectations.
Coordinate academic interventions for pupils requiring additional support or enrichment.
Assessment and Performance Monitoring:
Oversee the design and implementation of assessment systems.
Analyse assessment data to monitor pupil progress and identify areas for improvement.
Ensure timely preparation of examination schedules, marking processes, results, and academic records.
Lead academic review meetings to evaluate performance trends.
Staff Development:
Mentor, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff.
Identify professional development needs and organise relevant training sessions.
Foster collaboration and the sharing of best teaching practices among teachers.
Support the induction of new academic staff.
Quality Assurance:
Maintain high academic standards throughout the school.
Ensure compliance with school policies and educational regulations.
Review curriculum resources and recommend improvements.
Monitor classroom management and instructional quality.
Communication and Collaboration:
Work closely with the school leaders on academic planning.
Communicate academic expectations and pupil progress with parents when required.
Coordinate academic meetings, workshops, and school improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with other departments to support whole-school goals.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Prepare academic reports for school management.
Coordinate academic calendars, examination timetables, and curriculum planning schedules.
Manage academic documentation and records efficiently.
Perform other duties assigned by the School Director or Proprietress
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field (required).
Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum Studies, or a related discipline (preferred).
Teaching certification or professional qualification recognised by relevant educational authorities.
Additional training in educational leadership or school administration is an advantage.
Experience:
5–8 yearsof teaching experience in a primary school.
At least *3 yearsin an academic leadership, curriculum coordination, or supervisory role.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum planning, teacher supervision, and academic quality assurance.
Experience analysing assessment data and implementing school improvement initiatives.
Familiarity with both local and international curricula is an added advantage.
