We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Agronomist

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all crop production activities in the greenhouse, orchard, and open fields.
• Develop and implement annual and seasonal crop production plans.
• Monitor crop growth and recommend best agronomic practices to maximize yield and quality.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify pest, disease, nutrient deficiency, and weed issues, and implement appropriate control measures.
• Develop fertilizer, irrigation, and crop protection programmes based on crop requirements.
• Monitor soil health and recommend soil improvement and fertility management practices.
• Ensure proper greenhouse environmental management, including irrigation, ventilation, temperature, and humidity control.
• Supervise transplanting, planting, pruning, staking, harvesting, and post-harvest handling activities.
• Maintain strict compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), biosecurity measures, and farm safety standards.
• Supervise and train farm workers on proper crop production techniques and safe handling of agrochemicals.
• Monitor inventory levels of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, tools, and other agricultural inputs, and recommend timely replenishment.
• Keep accurate records of planting schedules, input usage, yields, labour, pest control activities, and production costs.
• Prepare weekly and monthly operational and production reports for Management.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient utilization of farm resources.
• Research and recommend improved crop varieties, production technologies, and sustainable farming practices.
• Ensure farm equipment and irrigation systems used in crop production are properly maintained.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Management.

Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 per month.
