Job Title: Business Analyst, Business Banking

Location: Lagos

Reports to: Group Head

Job Summary

• The business analyst, business banking, drives data-informed decision-making by transforming market, customer, and portfolio insights into actionable strategies that support product development, portfolio growth, and commercial performance.
• The role partners with product managers and business leaders to monitor product performance, evaluate market opportunities, and provide decision-ready analysis that drives revenue growth, deposit mobilization, and portfolio optimization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct market sizing, segmentation, and competitor analysis across SME, merchant, and mid-market segments to identify growth opportunities.
• Analyze customer behaviour, transaction patterns, and product usage data to surface insights that inform commercial strategy.
• Monitor industry, regulatory, and macroeconomic trends affecting the commercial banking landscape and assess their business implications.
• Partner with product managers to develop business cases, financial models, and feasibility assessments for new and enhanced commercial banking products.
• Build and maintain dashboards and management reports covering deposits (CASA), risk assets, revenue, and customer metrics for the Business Banking segment.
• Map, document, and analyze business processes; identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related discipline; relevant certifications (CBAP, CFA Level I, or data analytics credentials) are an advantage.
• Must have 3–5 years of business analysis experience within financial services (banking, fintech, or payments).
• Demonstrated experience working directly with product managers on product development, launch, or performance management.
• Proven track record of producing analysis and reporting used in senior management decision-making.
• Familiarity with the Nigerian financial services and SME banking landscape is strongly preferred.

Required Competencies:

• Strong financial modeling, business-case development, and data analysis (advanced Excel; SQL/Power BI or similar is an advantage).
• Solid understanding of commercial banking products — deposits, lending, payments, and value-added services.
• Business requirements documentation, process mapping, and product lifecycle knowledge.
• Report writing and executive-level presentation development.
• Structured problem-solving and intellectual curiosity.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across technical and commercial audiences.
• Attention to detail with the ability to synthesise complexity into clear recommendations
