Hospital Manager at Access Heart Foundation

Posted on Mon 20th Jul, 2026 - hotnigerianjobs.com --- (0 comments)

At Access Heart Foundation, we are dedicated to transforming the healthcare landscape for underserved communities across Nigeria, with a primary focus on heart health. Despite cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death globally, access to life-saving cardiac interventions remains out of reach for hundreds of millions of Nigerians, particularly in Northern Nigeria. The crisis is especially acute for children: over 80% of Nigerian children born with congenital heart defects die, compared to less than 5% in high-income countries. This disparity is not inevitable, it’s the result of geographic and economic barriers that we are systematically dismantling.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Hospital Manager

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the role

  • Our flagship infrastructure project is a dedicated cardiac and specialist hospital in Kano.
  • The facility will provide internal medicine, diagnostics, cardiology, and surgical.
  • The Hospital Manager will be an operational leader on the ground in Kano, responsible for making this vision a clinical and commercial reality.

Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Clinical Governance:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the entire AHF Kano facility — internal medicine, diagnostics, cardiology, surgery, and the cardiac surgical programme
  • Ensure the highest standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality of care across all departments
  • Develop and enforce operational policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks across clinical and non-clinical functions
  • Lead the activation of the cardiac catheterisation laboratory and cardiac surgical programme in coordination with AHF's clinical leadership
  • Manage the patient journey from referral and admission through to discharge and follow-up, ensuring a consistent and high-quality experience

People & Team Leadership:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the full hospital workforce — clinical staff, administrative staff, and support functions
  • Build a high-performing, values-driven team culture aligned with AHF's mission
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance, and retention of hospital staff in coordination with AHF leadership
  • Liaise with visiting surgical teams, international partners, and the AHF Clinical Missions Council

Business Growth & Revenue:

  • Develop and execute a sustainable revenue and growth strategy for the facility
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow the patient base
  • Manage the facility's budget and financial performance
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the facility's visibility a
  • Report regularly to the Executive Director and Board on performance

Partnerships & External Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the Kano State Government, Ministry of Health, and relevant regulatory bodies
  • Represent AHF in Kano — attending relevant stakeholder forums, health sector meetings, and community engagements
  • Manage relationships with equipment partners, pharmaceutical suppliers, and diagnostic service providers

Requirements
What We Are Looking For:

  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in hospital or healthcare facility management
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-departmental hospital operations — clinical services, diagnostics, administration, and support functions
  • Proven track record in business development, revenue growth, or commercial management within a healthcare setting
  • Strong financial acumen — experience managing hospital budgets, P&L, and financial reporting
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills — experience building and leading clinical and non-clinical teams
  • Deep understanding of Nigerian healthcare regulations, clinical governance standards, and hospital licensing requirements
  • Kano-based
  • Fluency in English; Hausa language proficiency is a strong advantage

Strongly Desirable:

  • Experience in cardiac care, surgical facilities, or specialist hospital settings
  • Existing relationships with Kano State Government, health authorities, or the Northern Nigeria health sector
  • MBA, MHA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification in health management or business.
