Job Purpose
The Telecoms Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, maintenance, upgrade, and continuous improvement of telecommunications systems across offshore and onshore production facilities.
The role supports the design, installation, operation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of critical communication, surveillance, navigation, and networking systems while ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and infrastructure.
Ensure high availability and reliability of field telecommunications equipment and services.
Perform routine assessments of telecom systems and recommend improvements where required.
Investigate equipment failures, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Support preventive and corrective maintenance programs for critical telecommunications assets.
Engineering & Technical Support:
Carry out engineering studies for the design, installation, and standardization of telecommunications systems, masts, grounding systems, and related infrastructure.
Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for telecom projects, upgrades, and modifications.
Prepare engineering reports, technical recommendations, and project documentation.
Review existing systems and recommend modernization, replacement, or integration initiatives where necessary.
Update engineering drawings, technical manuals, and asset documentation.
Project Management:
Support the execution of telecommunication projects from planning through commissioning.
Evaluate technical bids and provide recommendations during contractor selection processes.
Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of telecommunications systems.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities.
Track project deliverables to ensure completion within approved schedules and budgets.
Contractor & Vendor Management:
Prepare technical dossiers and scopes of work for requests for quotation (RFQs).
Monitor the performance of maintenance contractors and specialist service providers.
Supervise third-party contractors during installation and maintenance activities.
Participate in material inspections, technical evaluations, and supplier engagements.
Provide technical support during procurement and contract administration processes.
Qualifications
Education:
B.Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
Alternatively, an HND in a relevant engineering discipline with outstanding academic performance.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in enterprise data networking and operational project management environments.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in telecommunications or network engineering operations and maintenance.
Experience supporting telecommunications systems in industrial, energy, offshore, or oil and gas environments is an advantage.

Working Conditions:
Supports telecommunications operations across multiple onshore and offshore facilities, including production sites, FPSOs, and drilling rigs.
Requires periodic field visits, inspections, project supervision, and commissioning activities.
May be required to provide technical support during planned shutdowns, critical maintenance activities, and project implementations.
