Petit Debut - Our client is a growing events production and audiovisual rental business based in Lagos, serving corporate and experiential clients.
They are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Head of Operations & Event Production
Location: Lagos
Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced, highly organised and execution-driven Head of Operations & Event Production to lead operational delivery across both arms of the business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role owns event production, audiovisual rental operations, project execution, logistics, inventory, vendor performance, operational systems and the operations team.
This is a lean, high-performing team where every member plays a visible part in the company’s success. The role suits an operational leader who is comfortable balancing strategic oversight with hands-on execution — someone who leads from the front, solves problems proactively, makes sound decisions under pressure and continuously improves the way the business operates.
The role is hybrid, but live delivery is not. The successful candidate must be available for evening, overnight and weekend work during build, show and de-rig periods, and through the Q4 peak season.
Responsibilities
Operations & Team Leadership:
Lead the day-to-day operational activities of the business across event production and audiovisual rental.
Develop and implement operational systems, processes and workflows that improve efficiency and support scale.
Lead, mentor and supervise Operations, Production and Logistics personnel; set performance expectations and monitor productivity.
Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
Monitor operational performance and report to the Managing Director on an agreed cycle.
Drive a culture of accountability, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Event Production & Project Delivery:
Lead the planning and execution of projects from commencement through to completion.
Develop detailed production schedules, run-of-show documents and execution plans.
Allocate crew, equipment and operational resources across concurrent projects.
Supervise production teams on site through load-in, live execution and de-rig.
Deliver projects on schedule, to quality standards and within the budget parameters approved by Management.
Conduct post-project evaluations and apply lessons learned to future delivery.
Audiovisual Rental & Asset Operations:
Oversee the operational planning and execution of audiovisual and LED rental deployments.
Coordinate equipment deployment, transportation, installation and dismantling.
Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and accurate inventory and asset records.
Monitor equipment utilization and condition across concurrent hires.
Implement controls that reduce equipment damage, loss and downtime.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
Manage day-to-day working relationships with vendors, crew suppliers and service providers.
Manage and oversee the briefing of vendors on scope and standards, track performance against agreed deliverables, and escalate commercial issues to Management.
Oversee the maintenance of the approved vendor database and supporting performance records.
Represent the company credibly with clients, venues and stakeholders on site, and share market intelligence with Management.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university.
Minimum of eight (8) years’ professional experience, including at least three (3) years leading operations, production or logistics teams.
Demonstrable live events, experiential or production experience. This is a requirement, not a preference — applications without it will not be considered.
Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Resident in Lagos. Relocation is not supported for this role.
Available for evening, overnight and weekend work during live delivery periods and the Q4 peak season.
Valid driver’s licence is an advantage. Professional certifications (e.g. project management or health and safety) are an advantage but not mandatory.
Skills & Competencies:
Crew and resource scheduling across concurrent builds.
Production planning, scheduling and run-of-show development.
Inventory and asset control, including rental tracking systems.
Working knowledge of audiovisual, LED, staging, power and rigging requirements.
On-site risk assessment, incident management and decision-making under live-event pressure.
Clear, confident communication with crew, clients and senior stakeholders.
High personal integrity and accountability.
What We’re Looking For:
This role is for someone who wants to own a function rather than administer one.
The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for how projects are delivered — the systems behind them, the teams that execute them and the standard the client experiences on the day. We value integrity, ownership, excellence and a genuine appetite to grow with the business.
Application Closing Date
3rd August, 2026.
