Job Title: Head of Treasury

Location: Abuja

Role Description

• The Head of Treasury is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja, responsible for leading and overseeing the bank’s treasury function.
• This role manages daily liquidity and cash flow, optimizes funding sources, and ensures effective deployment of surplus funds in line with regulatory requirements and the bank’s risk appetite.
• The Head of Treasury will develop and implement treasury strategies, including hedging and investment policies, while monitoring market trends, interest rates, and foreign exchange movements to support business decisions.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising cash management operations, coordinating with finance and risk teams, preparing treasury reports, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The role also involves leading the treasury team, fostering strong relationships with financial institutions and regulators, and contributing to the bank’s long-term funding and capital planning.

Qualifications

• Relevant academic qualifications such as a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., ACT, CFA, ICAN) are an added advantage.
• Candidates should possess strong Treasury Management and Cash Management skills to oversee liquidity, funding, and investment activities.
• Candidates should possess solid Finance knowledge and Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
• Candidates should possess experience in Hedging and related risk management techniques to manage interest rate, currency, and market risks.
• Candidates should possess leadership and people management abilities to direct a treasury team and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
• Candidates should possess excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills to engage regulators, investors, and internal leadership.
• Candidates should possess a strong understanding of banking regulations, capital and liquidity management, and mortgage banking operations.
• Significant experience in treasury or financial markets within a bank or financial institution, preferably with exposure

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
• Deep understanding of money market instruments, liquidity management, and ALM principles
• Proficiency with core banking/treasury systems and reporting tools
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills for Executive Management and Board-level
• High attention to detail and integrity
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
