Job Title: Senior Biomedical Engineer

About the Role
The Senior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, functionality, and optimal performance of the organization's clinical and operational equipment and systems.
The role will lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manage technical vendors, oversee asset lifecycle management, and provide technical support for facility expansion projects.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime, improving operational efficiency, and supporting the organization's growth by establishing robust maintenance systems and technical standards across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment and Asset Management:
Ensure the continuous availability and optimal performance of clinical and operational equipment.
Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities across all locations.
Maintain accurate records of equipment, assets, warranties, and service histories.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements where necessary.
Develop and maintain an organization-wide asset register.
Preventive Maintenance:
Design and implement preventive maintenance schedules and programs.
Conduct routine inspections and performance assessments of equipment and systems.
Ensure compliance with maintenance standards, manufacturer recommendations, and safety requirements.
Track maintenance performance indicators and recommend continuous improvements.
Vendor and Contract Management:
Manage relationships with equipment suppliers, service providers, and maintenance contractors.
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service delivery meets agreed standards.
Coordinate service agreements, maintenance contracts, and technical support arrangements.
Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Operational and Technical Support:
Provide technical support for day-to-day operations across all facilities.
Support the installation, commissioning, and relocation of equipment and systems.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.
Ensure operational readiness of facilities and equipment for clinical and business activities.
Projects and Expansion Support:
Provide technical input for new facility developments, renovations, and expansion projects.
Support equipment planning, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities.
Ensure all technical requirements are met for new site openings and infrastructure upgrades.
Reporting and Compliance:
Prepare and present regular maintenance, asset, and performance reports to Management.
Monitor equipment uptime, downtime, maintenance costs, and service levels.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Develop maintenance dashboards and performance metrics to support decision-making.
Leadership and Continuous Improvement:
Drive a culture of proactive maintenance and operational excellence.
Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures to improve technical operations.
Train and support staff on equipment care and operational best practices.
Contribute to the development of an internal technical services capability that supports the organization's long-term growth strategy.
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
7–10 years of experience in biomedical engineering, technical operations, or healthcare equipment management.
Experience working in a healthcare, dental, medical, or similarly regulated environment is preferred.
Demonstrated experience managing preventive maintenance programs and technical operations across multiple locations.
Strong understanding of asset management, vendor management, and maintenance planning.
