Job Title: Contract Specialist

Locations: Abuja, Warri - Delta, and Port Harcourt - Rivers 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking to employ competent Contract Specialists to support procurement and contract management activities across its operations.
  • The successful candidates will be responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle, from procurement planning and tender administration to contract award, execution, performance monitoring, and close-out.
  • Candidates should possess proven experience in oil and gas contracting, NipeX tendering processes, contract administration, bid evaluation, supplier performance management, and supply chain operations while ensuring compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end procurement and contract administration activities in accordance with company procurement policies and industry standards.
  • Coordinate procurement planning, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award, and contract close-out processes.
  • Prepare and issue Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Invitations to Tender (ITT), and Requests for Proposal (RFP).
  • Provide administrative and technical support for NipeX tendering processes, ensuring compliance with Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Industry procurement requirements.
  • Coordinate bid receipt, commercial and technical bid evaluations, and recommendation reports.
  • Prepare bid analysis reports, tender evaluation documentation, and contract award recommendations.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer contracts, purchase orders, service agreements, and amendments.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service level agreements (SLAs), and project deliverables.
  • Track contract milestones, deliverables, expiry dates, renewals, variations, and payment schedules.
  • Coordinate contract change management, variation orders, claims, dispute resolution, and contract amendments.
  • Manage contract close-out activities, ensuring all contractual obligations have been fulfilled and appropriate documentation is archived.
  • Monitor supplier and supply chain performance through KPIs and prepare periodic performance reports.
  • Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, operations, logistics, engineering, and project teams to ensure effective contract execution.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract records using SAP ERP or other contract management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Nigerian procurement regulations, NUPRC guidelines, and applicable industry standards.
  • Support internal and external procurement audits and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier development, and continuous improvement in procurement and contract management processes.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, contracts, supply chain, or commercial management within the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrable experience managing the complete procurement and contract lifecycle.
  • Practical experience with NipeX tendering, supplier prequalification, bid evaluation, and contract award processes.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian oil and gas procurement regulations and industry contracting practices.
  • Experience in contract drafting, negotiation, administration, and contract close-out management.
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP (MM, SRM, Ariba, or related procurement modules) or other contract management systems.
  • Excellent understanding of procurement strategies, vendor management, commercial evaluation, and supply chain performance measurement.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, report writing, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple procurement activities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
  • Nigerian Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management (NIPSM)
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 (Advantage)
  • SAP Procurement (MM/SRM/Ariba) Certification
  • HSE Level 1, 2, or 3
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is an added advantage.
