Job Title: Machinist / Welder

Job Overview

• Industrial machining, fabrication, and welding of industrial valves and valve components.
• Tasks include manual lathe machining, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, welding, valve modification, and repair within the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Power industries.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine valve components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Perform welding and fabrication of valve bodies, bonnets, and associated components where approved.
• Operate lathe, milling, drilling, and grinding machines safely and efficiently.
• Measure machined components using precision measuring instruments.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and work instructions.
• Carry out valve modifications and machining repairs as instructed.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and good housekeeping.
• Record measurements and completed work activities.

Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: OND / HND in Mechanical Engineering, Welding & Fabrication, or a related discipline. Trade Test, City & Guilds, or relevant welding / machining certification is an advantage. O-Level with relevant practical machining and welding experience will also be considered.
• Experience: 3 to 7 years of relevant experience.
• Personality Traits: Safety-conscious, disciplined, hands-on, detail-oriented, team player, and willing to learn.

Required Competencies and Technical Skills:

• Manual machining operations (Lathe, Milling, Drilling, and Grinding).
• Welding competence in SMAW (Arc), GTAW (TIG), and GMAW (MIG) processes.
• Valve component repair, modification, and fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand machining tolerances, fits, and surface finish requirements.
• Expertise in precision measurement using Vernier calipers, Micrometers, Bore gauges, and Dial indicators.
• Effective use of workshop tools and equipment.
• Problem-solving, fault diagnosis, and documentation skills.
• Strong HSE culture, safety awareness, and teamwork skills.

Non-Negotiable Criteria:

• Proven industrial machining and welding experience.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competence in operating manual workshop machines and precision measuring instruments.
• Strong HSE attitude and safe workshop practices.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Remuneration and Benefits

• Monthly Salary: N550,000.
• Annual Salary: As approved by Management.
