We are seeking a qualified Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician on a contract basis to perform non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on equipment, pipelines, pressure vessels, structural steel, welds, and other engineering assets.
The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying material integrity, detecting defects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards, and supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing:
Perform NDT inspections using approved techniques, including:
Visual Testing (VT)
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Eddy Current Testing (ET) (where applicable)
Positive Material Identification (PMI) (where applicable)
Evaluate inspection results against project specifications, client requirements, and international codes.
Identify defects such as cracks, porosity, inclusions, lack of fusion, corrosion, erosion, laminations, and wall loss.
Recommend corrective actions based on inspection findings.
Inspection Planning:
Review inspection requests, work packs, drawings, weld maps, and inspection procedures.
Verify inspection readiness before commencement.
Select appropriate inspection techniques based on material type, geometry, service conditions, and applicable codes.
Prepare inspection equipment and ensure proper calibration before use.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare accurate inspection reports and NDT records.
Record inspection parameters, indications, acceptance criteria, and final disposition.
Maintain inspection logs and traceability documentation.
Generate defect reports and communicate findings to supervisors and clients.
Ensure all documentation complies with quality management requirements.
Equipment Management:
Operate, maintain, and perform routine functional checks on NDT equipment.
Ensure calibration certificates remain valid.
Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment promptly.
Maintain consumables and inspection accessories.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Perform inspections in accordance with:
ASME
API
ASTM
AWS
ISO 9712
ASNT SNT-TC-1A
Client specifications
Comply with Quality Management System (ISO 9001) requirements.
Participate in quality audits and technical reviews.
Ensure compliance with approved procedures and inspection plans.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
Follow all HSE policies and safe work procedures.
Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and toolbox talks.
Ensure radiation safety requirements are followed during RT activities.
Properly use PPE and maintain good housekeeping.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses promptly.
Continuous Improvement:
Support inspection process improvements.
Participate in technical training and competency development.
Keep abreast of advances in NDT technology and inspection techniques.
Mentor junior technicians where assigned.
Qualifications
HND / B.Eng. / B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
ISO 9712 or ASNT Level II certification in one or more NDT methods (mandatory).
Level III certification is an added advantage.
Valid Radiation Safety certification for RT (where applicable).
Experience:
Technician: Minimum of 3 years of practical NDT inspection experience.
Experience in Oil & Gas, Power, Petrochemical, Marine, Fabrication, or Industrial Inspection.
Familiarity with shutdown inspections, construction, commissioning, and in-service inspection is desirable.
