Job Title: QA/QC Engineer / QA / QC Coordinator
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Job Description
We are seeking a qualified QA/QC Engineer / QA/QC Coordinator to establish, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) systems across our projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning activities comply with contractual requirements, client specifications, applicable codes and standards, and the company's Quality Management System.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of defect-free work while driving continuous quality improvement across projects and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS):
Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and Quality Procedures.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, client quality requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
Coordinate quality activities across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
Monitor quality performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Assurance:
Review project specifications, drawings, procedures, and technical documents to ensure quality compliance.
Verify contractor and supplier quality plans and manufacturing documentation.
Conduct internal quality audits and support external/client audits.
Ensure document control and revision management are properly maintained.
Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Quality Control & Inspection:
Coordinate inspections for incoming materials, fabrication, welding, coating, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
Verify compliance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and approved procedures.
Witness inspections, pressure tests, hydrotests, FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities as required.
Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and client representatives.
Ensure calibration status of measuring and testing equipment is maintained.
Non-Conformance Management:
Raise, investigate, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Coordinate root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
Verify effectiveness of corrective actions before NCR closure.
Monitor quality trends and recurring issues to prevent repeat defects.
Vendor & Supplier Quality:
Evaluate supplier quality documentation and inspection records.
Participate in vendor inspections and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
Monitor supplier performance against contractual quality requirements.
Ensure material traceability and certification compliance.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
Maintain inspection records, material certificates, weld maps, test reports, and quality dossiers.
Compile Mechanical Completion Packages (MCPs), turnover dossiers, and final quality documentation.
Ensure quality records are complete, accurate, and readily retrievable.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and lessons learned reviews.
Support implementation of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices where applicable.
Promote a culture of quality awareness across project teams.
Mentor junior inspectors and quality personnel.
Qualifications
B.Eng. / B.Sc. / HND in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Metallurgical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification (preferred).
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent (advantageous).
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), CSWIP, NACE, BGAS, or relevant discipline-specific certifications are desirable depending on project scope.
Experience:
QA/QC Coordinator: Minimum 3 years of quality experience in EPC, oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, or industrial projects.
QA/QC Engineer: Minimum 5 years of relevant QA/QC experience with responsibility for quality planning, inspection coordination, and client interface.
Experience with fabrication, piping, structural steel, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, electrical and instrumentation works, or commissioning is desirable.
