Job Title: Senior Service Engineer
Location: Lafia Road, Nasarawa
Job Description
The C&I Operations Engineer/Lead owns the full operational lifecycle of Husk's Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar portfolio in Nigeria - from commissioning handover (HOTO) through day-to-day service delivery, maintenance execution, customer relationship management, and performance reporting.
The role is the single operational accountability point for all active C&I sites, ensuring asset uptime, contracted SLA fulfilment, and customer satisfaction are consistently achieved.
This is a hands-on, field-anchored position requiring deep technical competence combined with the commercial maturity to manage high-value client relationships directly.
As the C&I portfolio scales, this role will anchor the foundation of Husk Nigeria's C&I Operations function and is expected to evolve into a team leadership position.
Own the operational performance of all active C&I sites - ensuring maximum plant availability and energy delivery in line with contracted SLAs.
Monitor daily site performance data and act on anomalies proactively before customer escalation.
Maintain accurate site logs, operational parameters, and energy flow records for each C&I asset.
Preventive Maintenance (PM):
Design and execute structured Preventive Maintenance programmes for all C&I sites in accordance with OEM specifications, IEC standards, and Husk's Technical & Operating Standards.
Schedule and mobilise field technicians, third-party service vendors, and spare parts to execute PM on time and within budget.
Maintain PM completion records, checklists, and compliance documentation for all sites.
Conduct periodic site inspections to validate PM quality and identify emerging failure risks.
Corrective Maintenance (CM) & Fault Resolution:
Serve as the primary technical response owner for all unplanned faults, equipment failures, and site outages across the C&I portfolio.
Lead fault diagnosis, root-cause analysis, and resolution - hands-on where required, coordinating specialist support for complex faults.
Manage escalation protocols: ensure critical faults are acknowledged within 1 hour and resolved within agreed MTTR targets.
Track open corrective actions, prevent repeat failures, and close out tickets systematically through the maintenance management system.
Customer Relationship Management (Post-HOTO):
Serve as the primary operational point of contact for all C&I customers after commissioning handover - managing the day-to-day relationship with professionalism and responsiveness.
Conduct regular service review meetings with clients; present performance reports, address concerns, and maintain trust throughout the PPA lifecycle.
Manage customer complaints and service requests within defined SLAs - ensuring formal logging, root-cause communication, and satisfactory resolution.
Proactively communicate planned maintenance schedules, outages, and system changes to affected customers in advance.
Identify and escalate any commercial, contractual, or relationship risks to the Senior Director in a timely manner.
Reporting & Performance Visibility:
Prepare and submit weekly site performance reports and monthly Operations Summaries covering uptime, Solar generation, preventive/corrective maintenance status, usage and customer satisfaction.
Contribute C&I operational data and narrative to the Operations Dashboard and Monthly Performance Reviews (MPR).
Maintain accurate records of all service events, faults, vendor activities, and customer interactions.
Flag performance risks and operational deviations proactively with recommended corrective actions.
Vendor & Contractor Management:
Manage C&I-specific service vendors, OEM partners, and field contractors - tracking SLA compliance, mobilisation timelines, and quality of work.
Validate vendor deliverables, certify work completion, and process invoices accurately and on schedule.
Support procurement of spare parts, consumables, and specialist services in alignment with approved operational budgets.
HSE & Regulatory Compliance:
Enforce HSE standards at all C&I sites - conducting safety inspections, ensuring compliance, and promoting a zero-incident culture.
Maintain and update commissioning records, HOTO documentation, and regulatory compliance files for all active sites.
Commissioning Support & HOTO:
Support the Projects team during the commissioning phase of new C&I installations — participating in testing, verification, and snag resolution.
Own the formal HOTO process from Projects to Operations: validate completeness of commissioning documentation, site readiness, and client acceptance before assuming operational responsibility.
Ensure all new sites are fully onboarded into the operational management system at HOTO — with monitoring connectivity, PM schedules, and vendor coverage confirmed.
