We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Driver

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Reports To: Operations Manager / Project Manager / Designated Supervisor

Job Purpose

  • To provide safe, reliable, timely, and efficient transportation services for Turbo Energy employees, management, contractors, equipment, tools, materials, and other authorised items in support of the Company's energy projects and field operations.
  • The Driver is responsible for the safe operation, cleanliness, basic upkeep, and proper use of assigned company vehicles while ensuring compliance with all applicable traffic laws, company policies, health and safety requirements, and operational procedures.
  • The Driver supports the effective execution of Turbo Energy's field and project operations by ensuring the safe and timely movement of personnel, equipment, tools, materials, and documentation between offices, project sites, customer locations, warehouses, suppliers, and other designated destinations.
  • The role contributes to operational efficiency, project execution, employee safety, asset protection, and the professional representation of Turbo Energy.

Key Responsibilities
Transportation of Staff and Personnel:

  • Safely transport employees, management, contractors, consultants, clients, and other authorised persons as directed.
  • Transport project and field teams to and from project sites, customer locations, meetings, inspections, training sessions, and other official engagements.
  • Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of authorised passengers.
  • Plan routes in advance and use appropriate navigation tools to avoid unnecessary delays.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, and discretion when transporting staff, clients, and company representatives.
  • Support transportation requirements for project teams operating in different locations.

Transportation of Equipment and Materials:

  • Transport solar equipment, meters, tools, cables, technical materials, spare parts, documents, and other authorised company property.
  • Ensure that all equipment and materials are properly loaded, secured, transported, and delivered safely.
  • Confirm that materials being transported correspond with approved instructions or delivery documentation.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of materials where required.
  • Report any missing, damaged, or improperly secured items immediately to the relevant supervisor.

Project and Field Operations Support:

  • Provide transportation support for project implementation, site inspections, installations, maintenance, surveys, and other field activities.
  • Support project teams in accessing remote or difficult-to-reach locations where necessary.
  • Transport personnel and materials to Meter Asset Provider (MAP), solar, mini-grid, metering, and other Turbo Energy project locations.
  • Assist with the movement of tools and materials between warehouses, offices, suppliers, customer locations, and project sites.
  • Support emergency transportation requirements relating to operational incidents, subject to proper authorisation.
  • Ensure that all site visits and movements are undertaken in accordance with applicable safety requirements.

Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:

  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
  • Check basic vehicle components, including:
    • Engine oil
    • Coolant and water levels
    • Brake fluid
    • Tyres and tyre pressure
    • Battery condition
    • Lights and indicators
    • Brakes
    • Wipers
    • Fuel level
    • Basic safety equipment
  • Report mechanical faults, damage, unusual sounds, warning lights, or other vehicle issues immediately.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to approved maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and good physical condition of the assigned vehicle.
  • Ensure that the vehicle contains required emergency and safety equipment.
  • Do not operate a vehicle that is considered unsafe without appropriate authorisation.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Comply with all applicable traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
  • Observe speed limits and practise defensive driving at all times.
  • Avoid reckless driving, distracted driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and other unsafe practices.
  • Ensure all passengers use seat belts where applicable.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, traffic violations, vehicle damage, and security concerns immediately.
  • Comply with Turbo Energy's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures.
  • Follow all applicable safety requirements when visiting project sites.

Vehicle and Trip Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and trip records.
  • Record:
    • Date and time of trips
    • Destinations
    • Purpose of trips
    • Mileage
    • Fuel consumption
    • Maintenance activities
    • Vehicle faults
    • Incidents and accidents
  • Maintain and submit fuel receipts and other approved vehicle-related documentation.
  • Ensure that vehicle-related records are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
  • Report unusual fuel consumption or suspected misuse of company vehicles.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Deliver and collect official documents, correspondence, equipment, and materials as assigned.
  • Support authorised administrative errands, including visits to suppliers, government offices, banks, project locations, and other business destinations.
  • Assist with the movement of company assets between locations.
  • Support logistics activities during project mobilisation and demobilisation.
  • Carry out other transportation-related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Security, Confidentiality, and Asset Protection:

  • Safeguard company vehicles, equipment, tools, materials, and documents in the driver's custody.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company information, staff movements, clients, projects, and business activities.
  • Ensure that company vehicles are used strictly for authorised business purposes.
  • Immediately report theft, loss, damage, accidents, or unauthorised use of company assets.
  • Exercise appropriate security awareness when travelling to project sites and other locations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Protect the reputation and assets of Turbo Energy.

The Driver is accountable for:

  • The safe operation of assigned company vehicles.
  • The safety of authorised passengers.
  • The protection and proper handling of company materials and equipment in their custody.
  • The timely reporting of vehicle faults, accidents, incidents, and other operational concerns.
  • The accurate maintenance of vehicle and trip records.
  • Compliance with all applicable traffic laws, company policies, HSE requirements, and supervisor instructions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
  • Valid Nigerian Driver's Licence.
  • Minimum of 3 years' professional driving experience.
  • Experience driving company, commercial, project, or operational vehicles.
  • Experience supporting field operations, construction, energy, engineering, logistics, or technical projects is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of roads and routes within assigned operational locations.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Clean and responsible driving record.

Working Conditions:

  • The role may require frequent travel between offices, project sites, customer locations, suppliers, warehouses, and other operational locations.
  • May involve extended periods of driving and occasional early morning, late evening, weekend, or public holiday assignments based on operational requirements.
  • May be required to work in outdoor, construction, energy, or project-site environments.
  • The Driver must comply with all applicable HSE requirements while working at or visiting project sites.

Salary
N100,000 - N120,000 monthly.
