Grants and Fundraising Intern (Hybrid) at SustyVibes (Sustainability Vibes)

SustyVibes (Sustainability Vibes) is a youth-led organisation making sustainability relatable, actionable, and cool for young people. Since 2016, we have led multiple advocacy and community-based projects aimed at fostering youth climate resilience. As we enter our next chapter, we are implementing the North Star project, a restructuring and growth process designed to strengthen our people, systems, and long-term impact while staying true to our values of care, creativity, and community. We currently have operations in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grants and Fundraising Intern

Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Work mode: Hybrid
Contract Type: Internship, 6 months
Reports to: Senior Programme Manager
Working Hours: 20 hours per week (flexibility required based on organisational needs)

Summary

• The Grants and Fundraising Intern will support the Programme Team in driving grants acquisition and project development initiatives at SustyVibes. The Programme Management team is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring projects that advance SustyVibes’ mission of making sustainability accessible through education and advocacy.
• The Grants Intern will play a critical role in identifying and securing funding opportunities that aligns with strategic objectives of SustyVibes. He  or She would assist in researching and developing grant proposals, maintaining a database of potential grant opportunities, and collaborate with team members to gather project information and supporting documents.
• This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in grant writing, research, and project development. It also provides the chance to work alongside the dynamic and passionate SustyVibes team, dedicated to advancing sustainability advocacy and driving impactful change across the country.

Key Responsibilities
Grant Research and Database Management:

• Research and identify grant opportunities that align with SustyVibes’ mission.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of potential funding sources, including deadlines and requirements.

Proposal Development:

• Assist in drafting grant proposals and applications, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members to gather project details, budgets, and supporting documentation for timely grant submission.

Project Design and Development:

• Contribute to the design and development of new projects by defining objectives, activities, and timelines.
• Research and compile data to support project development and proposal writing.

Donor Relations and Communication:

• Support in maintaining communication with existing donors by providing updates on project progress and outcomes.

Partnership and Networking:

• Assist in building partnerships with organizations for joint grant applications or collaborative projects.
• Attend relevant information sessions, networking events, or webinars to represent SustyVibes and identify potential partners or funders.

Requirements

• Educational Background: Studies related to humanities or social sciences, and/or other relevant fields

Skills and Experience:

• Academic/working exposure to grants writing and management, program management and/or monitoring and evaluation
• Proven experience of copy-writing and editing articles, reports and presentations
• Excellent written and spoken English. Good working level in French is an advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint andExcel)
• Knowledge of donor/institutional funding mechanism
