Blue Coral Healthcare Services (BCHS) is a diagnostic center with integrated Clinical Services, located at Kengraphics Building, No. 1 Ajiran Road, (Agungi- Bus-stop) Off Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lekki, Lagos State. BCHS is conceived to identify Diagnostics and Clinical needs through innovative diagnostic medical practices which includes Imaging, Pathology, specialty clinics (Eye, Dental, Physiotherapy, Endoscopy and Dialysis), as well as other tailored packages.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Radiologist

Location: Agungi Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Managing Director (MD) 

Summary

  • Radiologists are physicians who are trained in executing and interpreting medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, Ultrasounds and MRI’s. They use their findings to diagnose illnesses and, in some cases, treat patients using medical radiation.

Essential Function of the job
Clinical:

  • Supervise Intern Radiographers, nurses and Radiology Staffs.
  • Schedule examinations and assign Radiology Personnel.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain and develop Radiology staffs.
  • Implement protocols in areas such as drugs, resuscitation, emergencies and infection control.
  • Provide advice on types and quantities of Radiology equipment needed to maintain facilities.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities including discussions of areas where risk of error in high.
  • Establish or enforce standards for protection of patients and personnel.
  • Administer or maintain conscious sedation during and after procedures.
  • Review or transmit images and information using picture archiving or communications systems.
  • Interpret images using computer aided detection or diagnosis systems.
  • Recognize or treat complications during and after procedures, including blood pressure problems, pains, over sedation and bleeding.
  • Prepare a comprehensive interpretation report of findings.
  • Obtain patients histories from electronic records, patients’ interviews, dedicated reports or by communicating with referring clinicians.
  • Conducts physical examinations to inform decisions about appropriate procedures.
  • Confer with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
  • Instruct Radiologist staffs in desired techniques, positions or projections.
  • Evaluate medical information to determine patients risk factors, such as allergies to contrast agents, or to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures.
  • Document the performance, interpretation or outcomes of all procedures performed.
  • Develop or monitor procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.
  • Coordinate radio logical services with other medical activities.
  • Provide Counseling to radio-logic patients to explain the processes, risks, benefits or alternative benefits.
  • Communicate examinations results or diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients or families.
  • Perform intervention procedures such as image- guided biopsy, percutaneous transmittal angioplasty, trans-hepatic biliary drainage, and nephropathy catheter placement.
  • There will be 25percent commission on all intervention procedures.
  • Perform or interpret the outcomes of diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Computer Tomography, (CT), Mammography or Ultrasound.

Managerial:

  • The Radiologist must be able to exercise a personal sense of responsibility and make decisions in complex and difficulty circumstances Imaging in A/E theatre during a multiple trauma situation.
  • Must be able to participate in ongoing departmental audit and quality assurance programs, which may lead to proposals of change to current working practices.
  • Must be able to delegate appropriately and supervise Health Care Support Workers to achieve the desired quality of patient care.
  • Must be able to comply and contribute to implementation of departmental and professional policies and procedures such as:
  • Professional code of conduct.
  • Health and Safety including risk assessment and control of substances.
  • Hazardous to health (COSHH) regulations, fire regulations, infection control and clinical.
  • Effectiveness moving and handling of training and cardiac pulmonary resuscitation training updates.
  • Divisional policies regarding NO SMOKING Policy, Grievance procedure and Disciplinary Procedures.
  • Quality Assurance Programs.

Educational:

  • Must be able to participate in mandatory training and actively pursue a continuous professional development program and keeping an up-to-date personal record of these programs.
  • Keeping up to date in new image techniques, technology and departmental policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Membership or Fellowship or Board Certification in Radiology (Certification in Radiology (with or without sub speciality like MRI, CT scan, etc.
  • Excellent Communication and patient management skills.

  • A medical degree and completion of the Medical Licensing Examinations.
