About the Role

• We're seeking a Senior Backend Engineer who brings deep TypeScript expertise and a passion for building scalable, maintainable systems. This role is ideal for someone who appreciates the flexibility of JavaScript but insists on the structure and safety that TypeScript provides.
• You'll be responsible for designing and implementing the backend services that power our payment processing and billing platforms. We're looking for someone who understands that great engineering isn't just about solving today's problems—it's about building systems that will serve us well as we scale. Key Responsibilities
Core System Development:

• Design and build scalable backend services using TypeScript and Node.js that handle high-throughput payment operations
• Implement event-driven architectures using AWS SNS/SQS for reliable message processing and system decoupling
• Develop robust APIs that follow RESTful principles and maintain backward compatibility
• Build payment processing and bill vending systems that integrate with multiple providers seamlessly
• Apply SOLID principles and design patterns to create maintainable, extensible codebases

Modern Stack Implementation:

• Develop structured applications using NestJS or similar frameworks that promote code organization and testability
• Build complex workflow orchestrations for multi-step payment processes
• Implement serverless solutions using AWS Lambda and SAM where appropriate
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated testing and deployment
• Work with various data stores (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis) choosing the right tool for each use case

Engineering Excellence:

• Write comprehensive tests that give confidence in production deployments
• Conduct thoughtful code reviews that improve code quality and share knowledge
• Document architectural decisions and create clear technical specifications
• Optimize system performance through profiling, monitoring, and iterative improvements
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver features that solve real user problems

What We're Looking For
Technical Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development with significant TypeScript/Node.js experience
• Deep understanding of JavaScript runtime, event-driven programming, and asynchronous patterns
• Experience building and operating distributed systems in production
• Strong knowledge of AWS services, particularly Lambda, SNS/SQS, and API Gateway
• Proficiency with both SQL and NoSQL databases, understanding their trade-offs
• Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and system design at scale

• Knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes
