Job Title: Mechanical Packaging Engineer

Location: Lagos

Overall Purpose of the Role

• The Mechanical Packaging Engineer is responsible for the engineering, integration, procurement support, inspection, installation, and commissioning of packaged mechanical equipment for oil and gas facilities.
• The role ensures that all packaged units are designed, manufactured, tested, and delivered in compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements while meeting safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop technical specifications, data sheets, and requisitions for packaged mechanical equipment.
• Review vendor proposals and perform technical bid evaluations.
• Coordinate the engineering, design, fabrication, inspection, testing, and delivery of packaged equipment.
• Review vendor drawings, calculations, GA drawings, P&IDs, PFDs, 3D models, and equipment layouts.
• Ensure all packaged equipment complies with project specifications, client requirements, and international codes.
• Interface with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Civil, and Procurement teams to ensure seamless package integration.
• Monitor vendor engineering progress and resolve technical issues during package development.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, and technical workshops.
• Support procurement activities by preparing technical clarifications and evaluating supplier capabilities.
• Witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), performance tests, and pre-shipment inspections.
• Provide engineering support during installation, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing.
• Resolve engineering and operational issues during project execution.
• Ensure documentation, vendor manuals, spare parts lists, and as-built drawings are complete before handover.
• Support troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and optimization of packaged equipment.
• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• COREN registration or eligibility is an added advantage.
• Membership of NSE, ASME, or other relevant professional bodies is desirable.
• 7–10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, Gas Processing, or EPC industry.
• Oil & Gas Experience.
• Proven experience with packaged equipment engineering and vendor management.
• Experience on greenfield, brownfield, EPC, EPIC, or FEED projects is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience supporting construction, commissioning, and start-up activities is an advantage.
