Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications.
- Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
- Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
- Perform electrical or electronic wiring connections for equipment, circuit breakers, transformers, cabinets and any other electrical apparatus.
Skills, Competence and Experience
- Must have a good experience managing high voltage equipment and plants.
- Must be able to interpret electrical design diagram.
- He must be able to train subordinates.
- Have experience in providing on-site direction and leadership for workers in order to complete jobs within specific guidelines.
- Knowledge of installation sequences for substation equipment, i.e. HV-LV equipment, cathodic protection systems, electrical control systems (IPCS), UPS systems, switch gears and MCC.
Qualification
- Minimum 15 years experienced as an Electrician (with at least 5 years spent in Managing plants and high voltage equipment).
- OND/HND in Electrical Engineering.
- Must be Computer Literate and able to use MS Office application.
