Michael Stevens Consulting - Our client, an extra-ministerial department set-up to oversee the management of pensions for pensioners not transiting to the Defined Contributory Scheme has recently received the mandate to carry out its functions as stipulated by the Pension Reform Act (PRA) 2004.

Job Title: Financial Officers

Job Description:
This role is primarily responsible for financial analysis and preparing financial transactions in compliance accounting controls and processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards
  • Prepare financial reconciliation, raising journal entries and working papers and implementing appropriate policies, systems, procedures and practices to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and budget development systems.
  • Develop and implement financial and operational policies, procedures and practices which facilitate and support financial management within the Organisation.
  • Undertake complex research activities and prepare submissions, reports and briefing materials for senior officers and forums on financial policy and management issues.
  • Identify departmental training needs in financial accounting and management and contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and training programs to meet these needs.
Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any other Social Science discipline.
  • A minimum of 6 years work experience of which at least 2 years should have been in similar function.
  • Professional accounting certification is mandatory
  • Key Competency Requirements
  • Advanced financial and accounting knowledge, including in depth understanding of public sector international and Nigerian accounting standards.
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership/supervisory, coaching and mentoring and people management skills.
  • A hands-on experience in financial planning and analysis.
