Job Title: Quality Improvement Officer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Brief

  • To coordinate the quality improvement activities and projects in lagoon hospitals.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Monitor and audit compliance with standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Participate in the development of Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in developing, implementing and maintaining mechanisms to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the quality assessment / performance improvement program.
  • On an ongoing basis, assists the Manager, Quality Improvement to prepare for regulatory surveys annually and JCI surveys every three years. As evidenced by successful compliance audits.
  • Under the supervision of the GM, Quality Improvement participate in the coordination and implementation of the hospital’s quality / performance improvement program on an annual basis, ensuring its consistency with organization’s mission, policies and procedures.
  • Coordination and implementation of strategies towards the hospital’s international accreditation and attainment of quality standards.
  • Function as a resource for staff trainings to ensure integration of hospital wide performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and coordinate the quality assessment / performance improvement field in the medical department as necessary to meet the organization’s mission.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation program for new employees as necessary and evidenced by the orientation schedules
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Comply with the use of Standard Operating Procedures and policies / adherence to quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Result Areas / Performance Goals

  • Comply with the use of standard operating procedures and policies /adherence to quality standards
  • Number of planned audit completed in resident facility.
  • Number of unresolved exceptions discovered.
  • Number of quality improvement initiatives championed in resident facility.
  • Reporting within TAT.
  • Achieve JCI benchmark rating for QI in resident facility.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Health Sciences or related field, Master's Degree (MPH, MPA, MA) strongly preferred.
  • IASSC or ASQ Certifications - Yello belt.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality®️ (CPHQ) is desirable.
  • 3 to 5 years experience is desirable.

  • Analytic and computer skills including use of statistical process control charts
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA or other performance improvement methods, with record of successful improvement projects
