International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) - Founded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organisation (INSO) is a British charity that supports the safety of aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts. INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations and training.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Assistant (Temporary)

Location: Abuja
Job Type: Temporary

Job Summary

  • This is a three-month position.
  • The responsibilities of this position will be to support the Finance Manager in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities including payment expenses, asset reconciliation, tax and payroll as well as maintaining the bookkeeping entries and filing accounting documents.
  • The Finance Assistant works under the supervision of the Finance Manager in collaboration with the Finance Team.

Major Responsibilities

  • Records expense incurred in Bank and Cash Book extract daily; sends to Finance officer for review.
  • Ensures valid supporting document are attached before cash and bank payment are done.
  • Prepares payment transfer instruction for Bank payment.
  • Reconciles advance when necessary with support from Finance officer.
  • Ensures proper filing of accounting document for Abuja.
  • Ensures vouchers are scanned monthly for Nigeria, Niger & Cameroun and drop in the share point.
  • Extracts staff National Housing Fund, Pension, WHT & PAYE Schedule and remits monthly; sends to Finance officer for review.
  • Scans Maiduguri Pay slip and ensures Abuja staff sign pay slip monthly.
  • Ensures proper Cash management.
  • Fills in individual National Housing Fund Passbook monthly.
  • Scans Maiduguri related PAYE and WHT for documentation.
  • Reviews staff travel claim and make reimbursement when necessary.
  • Prints monthly intercompany vouchers and file.
  • Stamps monthly accountancy reviewed document in the box file.
  • Stamps the Monthly Accountancy and records amount for different donors

Mandatory Qualifications

  • A University Degree or advanced certificate or equivalent in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Advance M/S Excel experience- SUM IFs, Pivot Tables, LOOK UP functions etc.
  • NGO experience is preferred.
  • Accounting skills and experience in general ledger, journal entries, cash/bank management
  • Excellent oral and written English Language
