Job Overview

  • The bakery supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery department, ensuring the production of high-quality baked goods, and providing excellent customer service.
  • They lead a team of bakery staff, manage inventory, and uphold food safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate bakery staff, including bakers, assistants, and every other staff.
  • Plan and organize daily production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing waste.
  • Ensure that all baked breadmeets quality standards and adheres to recipes and specifications.
  • Train and mentor bakery staff on baking techniques, food safety practices, and customer service.
  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and place orders as needed to maintain adequate stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the bakery, including equipment, workspaces, and storage areas.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including handling and storing perishable items.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including greeting and assisting customers, taking orders, and addressing concerns or complaints.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to promote bakery products and increase sales.
  • Prepare reports on bakery performance, including sales data, production efficiency, and inventory levels.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a bakery or food service environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Knowledge of baking techniques, recipes, and equipment, preferably with formal training or certification in baking or pastry arts.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and coach a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed in a bakery operation.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, such as bags of flour or trays of baked goods, and stand for extended periods.
