Job Title: Credit Analyst

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description
Successful candidate will:

  • Assess the creditworthiness of potential borrowers and evaluate the risk associated with lending to them.
  • Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to determine the applicant's ability to repay loans.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals outlining the borrower's financial position, repayment capacity, and proposed loan terms.
  • Conduct industry and market research to assess the risk factors associated with different sectors and borrowers.
  • Monitor existing loan portfolios, identify potential risks or delinquencies, and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Legal, and other teams to structure financing deals and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., ACIB, CFA, ACCA) is a plus.
  • 3 - 5 years proven experience as a Credit Analyst role in a financial institution, preferably in commercial or corporate lending.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, assess credit risks, and make sound lending decisions.
  • Knowledge of credit risk management principles, loan structuring techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Understanding of relevant Nigerian banking regulations and CBN guidelines.
