Job Title: Contract & Procurement Specialist

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Overview

  • As a Contract & Procurement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient procurement processes and managing contracts effectively within the organization.
  • Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks, from negotiating contracts with suppliers to overseeing the procurement lifecycle.
  • You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to align procurement strategies with organizational goals, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities
Procurement Management:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and negotiate terms and conditions to secure favorable contracts.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while meeting quality standards.
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ensure contract terms are clear, enforceable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to mitigate risks and address contractual issues.
  • Track contract milestones, renewals, and amendments to ensure compliance and timely execution.
  • Resolve disputes and discrepancies arising from contract interpretation or performance.

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and drive continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on predefined metrics and feedback from internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, process efficiencies, and value-added services through supplier engagement.
  • Address supplier concerns promptly and effectively to maintain productive partnerships.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing procurement and contracts.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, ethical standards, and best practices in procurement and contracting.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with procurement activities, including supplier selection, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring.
  • Implement measures to enhance transparency, accountability, and integrity in procurement processes.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs), expenditures, and savings achieved through procurement activities.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in procurement operations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making and process optimization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, finance, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CSCP, CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
  • Proven experience (5years) in procurement, contract management, or related roles, preferably in a corporate or government setting.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, contract law, and negotiation techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in contract management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high ethical standards in procurement practices.
