Job Description

  • As a POS (Point of Sale) IT Support Officer, you will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance related to Point of Sale systems used in retail or hospitality environments.
  • You will ensure smooth operation of POS hardware and software, address user issues promptly, and collaborate with vendors to resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

POS System Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain POS hardware components such as terminals, scanners, printers, and card readers.
  • Perform software updates and patches on POS systems to ensure optimal performance and security.

Technical Support:

  • Provide first-line support and troubleshooting for POS system users, including store staff and managers.
  • Respond to help desk tickets and resolve issues related to POS hardware, software, and connectivity.

User Training and Documentation:

  • Train end-users on basic POS system operations and best practices.
  • Create and update user manuals and documentation for POS system functionalities.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Liaise with POS system vendors and service providers to escalate and resolve technical issues that require external support.
  • Coordinate hardware repairs or replacements as needed and ensure timely resolution of issues.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security measures and controls to protect POS systems and transaction data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to POS systems (e.g., PCI DSS).

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain inventory of POS equipment, spare parts, and supplies.
  • Coordinate procurement of new hardware or components as per business requirements.

System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:

  • Monitor POS system performance and identify areas for optimization or improvement.
  • Implement proactive measures to prevent downtime and minimize disruptions to operations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology / Computer Science or a related field.
  • Proven experience (2+ years) in IT support, preferably with a focus on POS systems in retail or hospitality industries.
  • Strong knowledge of POS hardware components, software applications, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale software platforms.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and coordinating external support.
  • Understanding of data security and compliance standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings, to provide on-call support if required.
  • Ability to lift and move POS equipment and peripherals as needed for installations or repairs.

Salary
N80,000 - N100,000 monthly
